"Around the World in Eighty Days" is one of the greatest adventure novels of all time by one of the greatest of all adventure novel writers, Jules Verne. It is the story of the eccentric English inventor Phileas Fogg who sets out to make it around the world in eighty days in order to win a bet. With his trusted French valet, Passepartout, Fogg hurries off in a mad dash around the world, encountering numerous obstacles and adventures along the way. Jules Verne's classic work, "Around the World in Eighty Days," still holds up today as a work a genuine creativity and sheer delight.

One of the world's great adventure stories. In 1872, Phileas Fogg bets half his fortune that he can travel around the world in only 80 days.

A great deal of fun! This classic from 1873 manages to follow Phileas Fogg around the world, with delays and rescues and drama, and still provide a twist at the end. Highly recommend!

This travel novel has great adventure stories about the different cities visited. The characters are well-developed and lovable. The different places of the world were written about in a way that must have been experienced by the author. It was amusing to read how the author portrayed America and its people. The ending was quite surprising and a great conclusion to the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys traveling.

Jules Vernes career as a novelist began in 1863, when he struck a new vein in fictionstories that combined popular science and exploration. In Around the World in Eighty Days, Phileas Fogg rashly bets his companions £20,000 that he can travel around the entire globe in just eighty daysand he is determined not to lose. Breaking the well-established routine of his daily life, the reserved Englishman immediately sets off for Dover, accompanied by his hot- blooded French manservant, Passepartout. Traveling by train, steamship, sailboat, sledge, and even elephant, they must overcome storms, kidnappings, natural disasters, Sioux attacks, and the dogged Inspector Fix of Scotland Yard to win the extraordinary wager. Combining exploration, adventure, and a thrilling race against time, Around the World in Eighty Days gripped audiences upon its publication and remains hugely popular to this day.

Some books are downright enjoyable. This classic is one of them. Join Phileas Fogg and his wonderfully entertaining servant, Passepartout, on their trip around the world. Their adventures are unbelievable, exciting and almost magical. And, the man who tracks them believing that Fogg is a bank robber, becomes caught up in the fast paced trip to win a bet - that is until they reach the shores of England. Can Fogg win his bet or does it even matter when he looks into the eyes of the beautiful woman they rescued in India? To find out, do read this one soon!
