Moving from town to town, leaving no trace, never settling down--Hillary Siegal and her footloose parents love their life. To Hillary, each move is an escape, the only thing keeping her from becoming one of the "sleepwalkers" shes seen at all of the seventeen different schools shes attended. Then the Siegals land in Ashwater, California. And this time, theyre staying put. Seventh grade isnt going to be a typical school year for Hillary. What can she do if she cant run?

This is a well written YA book about a young girl whose nomadic life with her parents seems ideal until they move to Ashwater, CA, to house sit. It is here that she discovers real friendship with two quite different teenagers. And, when the owners of the house return early, Hillary finds it hard to leave her two new friends behind. One is a soul mate who seemingly reads her mind. Yes, Cass is special in many ways. And, Serena, a popular girl in the school has chosen Hillary as a friend. In this role she shares the experiences of those who like Serena. There is so much about Hillary and her friends to like. I found this a most delightful read.
