The tales feature loner Deputy Ogden Walker and his investigation of these mysteries. Walker is a rare black man in white/Hispanic/Indian country who doesnât really like what he does. Adverse to carrying a gun, he feels, furthermore, that he isn't very good at investigating crimes. Nor does he have a real personal life yet he eats at his mother's table and goes fly fishing with his cohorts. This eccentric lawman appears to be the only connecting element in the stories but is it really? But, who knows? You may find that that the collection is actually one connecting various murders and acts of violence with interesting characters.
