Beautiful writing, compelling world-building, but I felt confused about exactly what was happening for much of the book and the way the gods used their human adherents was distasteful to this gentle reader. If you enjoy ambiguity and power machinations in the fantasy realm this might be a good choice. I was hoping for a lot more crime solving using the lead's death speaking ability, but it's really only used a few times, mainly to get the protagonists on their journey.
