Vanessa,

Love, love, love the decal you posted.

Is there a way to download it?

Or to print it out?

I really agree and could not have said it better.

Thanks

Angie

I come back to this same set of questions/conclusions over and over again.

My favorite is "Who made God"...Since our universe has a distinct beginning then if there is a God then he/she/it must have been "made" by something or else is an extra-planer being.

Angie,  I found it at verydemotivational.com, you can probably download it there.  Just use the search term "atheist".

I'd like to know why a perfect being needed to create anything at all for?

Was there some kind of void in Yahweh's life that needed filling? He had the angles, and apparently they weren't enough to make him happy, so he makes humanity all the while knowing they will fail him throughout the ages. surprise

It would be like me making a bacteria colony to keep me company even though I was already totally fulfilled and content. Pointless.

The answer always given by the theists is that he is both able and willing but wanted to give us free will.  I can't see that as much of a trade off.  I'd rather not "be allowed" to "choose God" (a sort of a negative option "fire escape clause" ?) and just live with no other choice than heaven on earth for everybody.  Why would anybody think that was a bad deal?

I can see how believing in god could be very comforting.  A few weeks ago my family had a scare that my brother's extremely aggressive form of cancer was back.  It's not, but for the few days until we got the official news I kept wishing there was something I could do to effect the outcome.  I can understand why people pray, it's nice to think there's someone listening and looking out for you or your loved ones.

But really, why credit god when one person survives a disaster that kills thousands?  Why not blame god every time someone dies too young?  If a person believes good things happening to him or her are miracles, how can they claim that bad things that happen to them are not curses?

The Epicurus quote expresses a dualistic perspective... stepping outside of dualism, the logic falls apart.
