The first in a new series about warriors from atlantis and their fight with evil vamps. Not a great read. The heroine was TSTL. Won't be following this series.

1st I've read by this author and I guess this is a new series for her. All I can say is so far so great. I love these books that mix in the world of Atlantis and of course the gorgeous warriors. This is Prince Conlon's and Riley's story. He was held & torchered by an evil vampire goddess for 7 yrs and survived. She is an empath who can feel his emotions, the 1st in a very long time to do so. When they meet it is an instant attraction that only gets stronger. They must retrieve Poseidan's tridant from the bad guys. Along the way we meet Conlon's 7 who include his brother Ven and best friend and Priest Alaric. We also meet Riley's sister Quinn. This is just the beginning and I am looking forward to more of this story. Happy reading.

Atlanteans, vampires, wereshifters, empaths, and somewhere in there...humans!

This is my first Alyssa Day read after a year of Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, Kerrelyn Sparks and Lynsay Sands, and...I LIKED IT.

Here is my honest opinion/keypoints:

1. The writing style might be a bit more simplistic than most are used to, almost like a young adult novel at times, but it's a good read.

2. A lot of characters are introduced rather quickly, which might cause some confusion. There were several pages I had to re-read at the beginning to remember who-was-who, but afterwards the read went smoothly.

3. It was almost as if this were the 2nd book of this series. It's as if there was a part missing somewhere. I have an expansive imagination which helped "fill-in" some pieces. It makes me wonder though, if Ms. Day was maybe rushed to write this and get it out quickly?

4. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't filled with sex scenes. I'm more about the plot and action in paranormals than I am the whole sex factor. The bedroom scenes it did have were sexy, tender and fun. Just my cup of tea!

5. I cried - TWICE - reading this book. There is a part with 2 of the warriors and Riley that caused me to tear up to the point I was snotting. It takes some good writing to get that reaction out of me, but then...I've cried at Mastercard commercials, don't say you haven't! :D

All in all, I will continue to read this series. I want to know why Quinn (Riley's sister) is "broken" and how exactly did Alaric (Atlantean Priest) "touch" her when she was being healed. Just a few paragraphs about the other Atlantean warriors like Alexios, Bastien, etc., and I wanted to read more!

I hope this review is of some help. Thank you for reading it. Have a great day! :)

Fairly predictable in the classic made for each other pattern, but a fun read. Not to be a spoiler, but a surprise awaits in book 2.

This is my first full length novel by Day and I enjoyed it. I thought it was fun. Her writing and the bickering between the warriors could be better but overall it was a pretty good read.

I loved the fact that Riley was not a kicked butt kind of girl. She was brave and fought if she really needed to although with lots of hysterical crying and babbling.

There was a lot of humor and some touching moments. The sex scenes are playful rather than dark.

Can't wait to read more from this author.

Conlan high Prince of Atlantis is looking for Posedion's stolen trident. When he steps from the water he sees a woman about to be attacked by three men. He comes to her aid and is stricken by the urge to protect her forever. The instant attraction Riley feels for Conlan scares and excites her.
Beautiful world and character development. It feels as if Atlantis and the larger than life warriors are real.
Good story, likeable characters and believable romance.
Looking forward to book 2.

I had this on my wish list until I ran across it at my favorite used book store. I was hoping this series wouldn't disappoint, and the first book didn't! Alyssa Day does a wonderful job of telling the story of Conlan and Riley, as well as setting the stage for the series, without detracting from either. I fell in love with all the warriors and can't wait to read their individual stories.
