The first in a new series about warriors from atlantis and their fight with evil vamps. Not a great read. The heroine was TSTL. Won't be following this series.

1st I've read by this author and I guess this is a new series for her. All I can say is so far so great. I love these books that mix in the world of Atlantis and of course the gorgeous warriors. This is Prince Conlon's and Riley's story. He was held & torchered by an evil vampire goddess for 7 yrs and survived. She is an empath who can feel his emotions, the 1st in a very long time to do so. When they meet it is an instant attraction that only gets stronger. They must retrieve Poseidan's tridant from the bad guys. Along the way we meet Conlon's 7 who include his brother Ven and best friend and Priest Alaric. We also meet Riley's sister Quinn. This is just the beginning and I am looking forward to more of this story. Happy reading.

Atlanteans, vampires, wereshifters, empaths, and somewhere in there...humans!

This is my first Alyssa Day read after a year of Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, Kerrelyn Sparks and Lynsay Sands, and...I LIKED IT.

Here is my honest opinion/keypoints:

1. The writing style might be a bit more simplistic than most are used to, almost like a young adult novel at times, but it's a good read.

2. A lot of characters are introduced rather quickly, which might cause some confusion. There were several pages I had to re-read at the beginning to remember who-was-who, but afterwards the read went smoothly.

3. It was almost as if this were the 2nd book of this series. It's as if there was a part missing somewhere. I have an expansive imagination which helped "fill-in" some pieces. It makes me wonder though, if Ms. Day was maybe rushed to write this and get it out quickly?

4. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't filled with sex scenes. I'm more about the plot and action in paranormals than I am the whole sex factor. The bedroom scenes it did have were sexy, tender and fun. Just my cup of tea!

5. I cried - TWICE - reading this book. There is a part with 2 of the warriors and Riley that caused me to tear up to the point I was snotting. It takes some good writing to get that reaction out of me, but then...I've cried at Mastercard commercials, don't say you haven't! :D

All in all, I will continue to read this series. I want to know why Quinn (Riley's sister) is "broken" and how exactly did Alaric (Atlantean Priest) "touch" her when she was being healed. Just a few paragraphs about the other Atlantean warriors like Alexios, Bastien, etc., and I wanted to read more!

I hope this review is of some help. Thank you for reading it. Have a great day! :)

Fairly predictable in the classic made for each other pattern, but a fun read. Not to be a spoiler, but a surprise awaits in book 2.

This book had a good original story line, and I liked all the alpha guys! Loved some of the secondary characters. Ven is hilarious. I'll be reading the second book just for him! But I wish it had more substance to it. I think it could have been 'fleshed out' a little more, more emotions, more descriptions, more than just the bare necessities to get the story across.

I enjoyed everything about this book. The mythology woven in the story was nice. Good v Bad. Win the girl/mate. Things long thought lost being found again. Oh yeah, the love story was good too.

Good first book by this author. Mixes Atlantean warriors with vampires and werewolves, but comes off OK. Lots of characters involved who will probably feature in later books. Not on the top of my list, but good enough to watch for the sequel.

The first of a promising series of stories about strong men who live in Atlantis and protect humanity... from a Vampire Senator??
Not many parts for women, Day seems to prefer to develop the male characters.
This first book didn't really paint a good picture for me of the how's and why's. But I am looking forward to reading the other stories in this series, I think Alyssa Day has written four more so far.

I absolutely loved this book! After reading JR Ward and Lara Adrian, I didn't think I would love anything but Vampires but the Atlanteans were a great change up. It was very comparable to the others. This book kept me intrigued the whole way through. I am now on book 3 and plan on reading the whole series!

This was just an awful book! I got more than 3/4 of the way through and had to stop torturing myself. I'm really glad it didn't cost me anything other than a credit but am kicking myself because I wasted one on the second in the series. After this disastrous start in the series, I took the 3rd off my wish list.

The story really had potential but fell flat to the author's unoriginal and poor writing skills. It read like a bad, cheezy Harlequin novel with characters that used a lot more "grown up" words (swearing). I found it ironic that the main character made the comment of how she felt like she was trapped in a B-Movie... well, a B-Book would be a better explanation. The dialogue was corny and repetitive and the romance cliched and better suited to a late-night movie on Cinemax.

There were also too many conflicting concepts in the story, such as first saying that the Atlanteans had a problem with modern language yet as you read on, they seemed to have no problem with slang and insults. It sometimes reminded me of an old Arnold or Stalone movie (and in a bad way!).

The author falls flat on her face if she's trying to keep up with others in this genre and I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.

This is my first full length novel by Day and I enjoyed it. I thought it was fun. Her writing and the bickering between the warriors could be better but overall it was a pretty good read.

I loved the fact that Riley was not a kicked butt kind of girl. She was brave and fought if she really needed to although with lots of hysterical crying and babbling.

There was a lot of humor and some touching moments. The sex scenes are playful rather than dark.

Can't wait to read more from this author.

Conlan high Prince of Atlantis is looking for Posedion's stolen trident. When he steps from the water he sees a woman about to be attacked by three men. He comes to her aid and is stricken by the urge to protect her forever. The instant attraction Riley feels for Conlan scares and excites her.
Beautiful world and character development. It feels as if Atlantis and the larger than life warriors are real.
Good story, likeable characters and believable romance.
Looking forward to book 2.

Wonderful...loved it...Great action, love and heart racing adult .....
Vampires are bad in this book. The names mean alot in this book so I can see how the names and their meaning play out in other books.

I had this on my wish list until I ran across it at my favorite used book store. I was hoping this series wouldn't disappoint, and the first book didn't! Alyssa Day does a wonderful job of telling the story of Conlan and Riley, as well as setting the stage for the series, without detracting from either. I fell in love with all the warriors and can't wait to read their individual stories.

Pretty good. It had really good secondary characters, and a good story. I did think some of the elements of the story weren't explored fully, but perhaps later in the series that will happen.

I got this thinking after reading the back that it would be a good book. I hate to say I was in chapter 4 or 5 and I still couldn't get into this. It seems to be a book in the middle of a series but it's not but with the jumping around, it started out with Colan coming back home to Atlantis after 7 years of torture then getting right to healing, I think there was a big jump about why he was captured for 7 years and his 'friends' knew he was alive but waiting until he showed up saying they were getting ready to go look for him, doesn't add up to me.

Riley Dawson is more than a dedicated Virginia Beach social worker. She's blessed with a mind link that only Atlanteans have been able to access for thousands of years. Being an empath may explain her wistful connection to the rolling waves of the ocean, the santuary it provides and the sexual urges that seem to emanate from fathoms below.

Conlan, the high prince of atlantis, has surfaced on a mission to retrieve Poseidon's Trident. Yet something else has possessed Conlan: the intimate emotions and desires of a human. Irresistibly drawn to the uncanny beauty, Conlan soon shares more than his mind. but in the midst of a battle to reclaim Poseidon's power, how long can a forbidden love last between two different souls from different worlds?

Really powerful story for the the first in a series. It makes for a fast and exciting read. I look forward to reading the other books and getting to know the other players better. Ms. Day leave plenty of room for speculation regarding the story line for other charaters that are introduced in this book.

Interesting concept. Good writing and more of a "romance" than other books I've read with a sci-fi/paranormal element. I'd call it "sci-fi lite". Mix of men from Atlantis, vampires, warewolves...you name it. And humans with paranormal powers. Looking forward to the next one.
