Happy Birthday, Teri!! I hope you have a wonderful day. Enjoy it! heart

Vicki, I don't go by the calories on Healthi either. I just go by Bites. If I went by calories, it says I need 1820. Once I've eaten all my bites, and some zero bite fruit, typically the daily calories I actually eat are 1100-1500, typically around 1200-1450. On days I feel like I ate a lot I am 1600+, but that's rare. I don't worry about their calorie recommendation, what worked for me is switching out high Bites foods for lower Bites food... ultimately finding better food choices. For example, I used to think a Nature's Bakery granola bar was an okay thing to eat, but then I saw it's 8 Bites. I only get 30 Bites for the day, with 28 flexible Bites for the week. So, 8 Bites is A LOT of Bites for a small snack, so I stopped eating those. Healti helped me to see that some foods were REALLY hurting my efforts to lose weight. And, that other foods I could eat a ton of for low Bites which helps me feel full and energized. I definitely love to eat and need to eat, I just needed help picking what foods I could eat a lot of. I do the Sugar Smart plan, which is one of the free plans.

Don't do the dumb Healthi quiz that "helps" you choose a plan. I took it five times with different answers each time and it ALWAYS recommended the Better Balance plan....which surprise, surprise is the plan you have to pay for. So of course they're pushing that plan. You don't need it. Consider trying Sugar Smart which is free.

Good Morning all. Hope you slept well last night. I slept so-so. I tend to be a restless sleeper, so normal for me. I'm ending out the month at 246 lbs, so only a 4 lb. loss for the month. I know it's better than a gain but it's frustrating that I had regained 8 lbs. I had lost, so here on the last day of the month my loss is only 4lbs instead of 12lbs. Hopefully I can do better in September.

Margaret, you asked if I was still riding my bike. Not as much as I had planned to. It's really hard on my knees, so instead of dailing I'm just doing that twice a week. The rest of the time I'm making the walk to and from the mailbox which is a 10 minute walk for me. Two days a week I add an extra 5 minutes to the walk due to carrying out my trash to the dumpster then going on to the mailbox.

Teri, Happy, Happy 71st Birthday !! I hope you have many, many more and each one happier than the last. I know you're looking forward to that trip in October.

Heather, Diabetes runs in my family as well but luckily it has missed me. My son has it though. He was told anything below a 6 would be good. His was 6.7 when he was diagnosed. Now I think it's staying around 5.8, since going on Ozempic, but he's hoping as he starts losing weight that number will go down more. And he has an exercise room so hoping if he's using it that will help him even more.

I'm going to give the Healthi app a chance but I'm still going to write in my journal. I noticed yesterday that what I have written in my food log in my journal is different than the numbers healthi gives me for the same food and what's in my journal I've taken directly off of the box, bag, or can.So I know my writing everything down directly is right, since I'm writing down exactly what the product is showing me.

I did find out one thing that surprised me a little. I love to eat peanut butter on a bagel and I count every cal., fat, carb, protein, and sodium. And I buy low fat peanut butter as regular peanutbutter has too much oil and actually hurts my stomach. The skippy low fat has 115 grams of sodium for 2 tablespoons and that's what I normally buy. But the other day I had to get Jif lowfat peanut butter cause they were out of skippy low fat. And whereas the other nutrients were the same as skippy, the sodium count was higher. Skippy lowfat pntb. has 115 grams. Jiff lowfat pntb has 190 grams. I'm glad I looked instead of just going with the skippy number I had already used before. Yesterdays eating had me at 1147 calories for the day and only slightly over in sodium. It was 2108 grams for the day. But that's much, much less than it had been being the last 3 days prior. I'm not trying to keep my calories super low like the 600, it's just the way it's been happening. I figure if I stay under 1000 calories and keep my sodium under the 2000 grams, then I should lose slowly but steadily. I'm trying to keep my carbs below 100 grams and my protein around around 100-120 grams. My fat grams tend to stay between 12-30 grams.

I'll set up the Sept. room later today. Start posting there tomorrow.

Month End!

I started August 1 with a weight of 148.2, which was actually a little higher than the other days surrounding it, but that was the number that day. Today I'm 143.5. which is not my lowest, but it's close. There were two other days in August I was 143.1 and 143.3, those are my lowest to date.

So, August 1 to today is a loss of 4.7 lbs. for the month.

On to September!

I just realized my September 1 weight will also probably be higher tomorrow because we're having friends over for lunch, dinner, and board games today, and I plan to eat all the food.

Teri, Facebook told me it was your birthday today!

Vicki, I'm sorry the bike was hurting your knees. Mine used to hurt my knees until I was told to raise the seat so that legs are at full extension at the lowest point.

i di end up weighing this morning; it's a really ingrained habit. But it was exactly the same as yesterday, 229.8, so I can claim under 230 at the end of the month!

I have to find a snack or something very low sodium, because I splurged for lunch and bought a hamburger at Casey's for 900 mg sodium. I need to make some boiled eggs for my snacks. Well, I'll be home for a few days, so I can eat better.

i was sad to find out how much sodium was in cottage cheese.

i plan to start a weight lifting routine today... very easily because I plan to use no weight and just do the motions correctly. I lost a lot of weight several years ago with lifting, and then thought Curves sounded good, and Curves just didn't work for me and I never got back to the lifting at home, but now is the time!

Heather and Margaret, yall did great in August. You too Teri. I'm not forgetting you.

I'm going to have to let my peanut butter go. It's not that it's too much in the nutrients per serving, it's that I simply can't stick to a single serving. I could literally eat it right out of the jar. So I got rid of what I had left and starting tomorrow off fresh. I think I'll boil up some eggs myself for when I want something to snack on. At least it's good protein.

So tomorrow is a fresh start. What are your Sept. goals besides weight loss? Post your goals in the Sept. thread. See yall in the morning.
