An enjoyable mixture of mystery and romance. Stick with this one. Though there are different characters than the first Aunt Dimity book, the story is important to the rest of the series.

This was a really cute cozy mystery. It is the second book in the Aunt Dimity series, but since it was recommended that I read it first, I did. Aunt Dimity's character is not really explored much in this book, but that's okay. That characters are a lot of fun, and I loved the setting (fictional Penford Hall in England). The book was very lighthearted and entertaining. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I love this series. Probably the best cozy mystery series I have ever read. This is the second book in the series but the first book chronologically in the storyline.

An early Aunt Dimity, a little different than the others as she does not play a constant role but merely sets the stage.
Emma, a fat, forty, frumpy, recently jilted American amateur gardener is in England on a gardening vacation when she meets 2 elderly women who insist she visit a particular not very well known garden.
A gentle and magical read!

The prequel to the series of Aunt Dimity books. Should be read first if possible-but any time makes the series more fun.

This is a wonderful book. Although written second, it is a prequel to Aunt Dimity's death. I read it first, and am so looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I definately recommend this series.

Excellent! I was a little hesitant to read this as it does not center on Lori Shepherd, but does tell the story of Derick & Emma. I'm glad I read it. Book two in this great series!!

This is the 2cd book in the Aunt Dimity Series. I was a little disappointed that Aunt Dimity really wan't in the story, but I still enjoyed the book.
From FantasticFiction.com:
A compelling prequel to Aunt Dimity's Death. When avid gardener Emma Porter's longtime lover dumps her, she sets out on a summer-long driving tour of England's glorious gardens. A Dimity-contrived coincidence brings Emma to Penford Hall, where dark rumors and suspicious circumstances lead her on the path to mystery--and unexpected love.

This is a whimsical mystery with a ghost, crooks and the delightful heroine Emma. She is not beautiful, thin or young and recently the victim of being jilted. Then she goes to England and the fun begins.

A really fun series, a little mystery, a little romance, some sly humor that sometimes made me laugh out loud cause it was so unexpected. I have read four of these and three of them were great, the other one was just okay. Plan to read the rest of them.

It goes back in history of the characters, which I didn't expect. It was to familiarize you with Derek & Emma, Peter & Nell. I enjoyed it a lot - am looking now for the 3rd in the series since this was the second of the series.....

The prequel to Aunt Dimity's Death, and the first of the series, it gives us an indepth look at Emma and Derek and their daughter. It's such a good series!
exellent series, recipes included. Won't part with my copies :-)
I just love a "cozzzzzy" mystery and this one has a nice twist at the end. Can't wait to read all of Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity Series.
Good characters, good plot, and good development. This is a new series to me and I really am enjoying it. I look forward to the next books that follow.
