This book gives the reader insight into how Auschwitz, as well as the whole concentration camp system, evolved within Nazi Germany. There are some horrifying personal experiences relayed in this work, but it is not a day to day account of inmate experiences. There are plenty of first person accounts to graphically paint a picture of the suffering caused by the Holocaust. The author also devotes significant time to illustrating how the sinister Nazi regime developed techniques to implement the "Final Solution". The book is an excellent read and gives the reader insight into how anti-Semitism can become ingrained into a society.

An intriguing, heart-wrenching biography of the infamous Nazi concentration camp. This story explains in detail how the decision to commit wholesale genocide was arrived at, and how it evolved. Includes many anecdotes from Auschwitz employees and prisoners, and also details what happened to them at the conclusion of the war. An un-easy read, for sure, but important not to forget what happened.
