This is a fantastic book list book about mostly history books and some science books. This book is for use by homeschooling parents or teachers who want to use real books, historical fiction and fiction to teach about history rather than using textbooks and curriculum packages. There is a great section about the use of 'living books' and how they are a superior way to educate children and teens.

The book has a list of books and then it is sorted in other ways. You can find books by time period/century/location, another list is alpha by author name and another list is alpha by title.

The listing tells categorical information about each book plus what independent reading level the book is.

The only downside to the book is that the summary of what the book is about is less than a full sentence long. If you want more information on each title I suggest you search on the Internet or Amazon or ask other homeschoolers or teachers that you know in person or via the Internet about the book in question.

I purchased this book and plan to keep it and use it. I bought a second used copy at a great price, for a friend who declined it, so that is why I am offering it here on PBS.

A guide for about 1300 books sorted by setting - based on the century and location of the story. The same listing is also sorted by author and by title to provide cross references.

Offers information not found on most book lists. Highlights point out some of the best children's literature, but there are reading and interest levels for children and adults - a liftetime reading resource.

Introductory text promotes te ideas of English educator, Charlotte Mason (1842-1923), who felt that reading mnay worthy books was vital to a classic liberal education.
