I laughed until I cried, reading this book. I made my b/f listen to some of the chapters as well. Very funny!

This autobiography gives us an inside look at a woman searching for her own destiny. She struggles in transition from the party girl who then gets married, and then finds that life is really full of challenges! A funny read.

Seriously, how can one woman be SO funny? I was mostly reading this on the train to and from work and had to try hard not to laugh too loudly. She had me cracking up left and right, almost to the point of tears! Hilariouis.

A lot of self-deprecating humor in this one, which is pretty funny at times, but pathetic at others.

I adore Lauie Notaro, ever since I first read the Idiot Girls Action Adventure Club, I've been hooked. She's hysterical, her stories are fantastic. Anyone needing a good laugh needs to read this and all her books. No she did not pay me to say that...but i would accept it.

I wanted to like the writer's snarky, cynical tone, but I ultimately felt like she was trying too hard. Everything was fodder for a joke, and often the more crude and juvenile, the better.
Many of the essays' anecdotes seemed pointless, and were more self-indulgent and meant to garner an easy guffaw than anything else.
I'd skip this. Even for beach reading it's a little too pithy.

The reviews of Notaro's books are all so great that I couldn't wait to read one. I did not like this book at all though. I guess I was expecting a story and there really wasn't one...just a book full of one liners. While they were undoubtly funny...even my type of humor...at one point I even said out loud, "enough already, geez".
But as I said, it could have been because I was expecting a story when it was more of a ton of little chapters set up to tell humorous one liners about a part of her life. To be fair, I will try reading another of her books.

Hands down- some of the most memorable lines I have read in a long while. This journey you go on with Laurie makes you take notice of the truely funny shit that is around us and we do not see usually. Loved it...now in my top 100 of all time.

I liked the book and it was entertaining, but if you're hoping for a unified story, it isn't here. This is more of a series of shorts based around the man who Laurie chooses as a husband. It's a fun book, just not what I was expecting

I did not like this book as much as "I Love Everybody," though I did manage to laugh a little through it. She's pretty funny. Also wished she just finished the stories without the cute little endings. I also graded this book down because of the horrible cover. Do the publishers actually think the woman bending over to reach into the fridge is fat? Would it kill them to depict even and average looking woman just once? Look how long and thin her legs are....and no cellulite. If this book was about a fat man, you can bet that there would be a huge, gross man on the cover. Tired of it.

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first - I actually laughed so hard I cried a few times. All in all, I really enjoyed it. She's still not quite at the Sedaris level, but I'll keep an eye out for her books and we'll see where she goes from there.
The toothbrush chapter was definitely the best, though there were some other great parts as well.

Humorous Memoir/Essays: Funniest books I've ever read. I laughed at loud until people thought I needed help. Great for young women who normally avoid girly chick lit. Normally you'd have to hold me down to get me to read a book about wedding preparations but I can't get enough of this. You think you're family embarrasses you in public? I promise this will make you feel much better about yours. This is the third in a continuing series, first is The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club, then I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies), and then We Thought You Would Be Prettier.

This author is beginning to irritate me, I don't know why, maybe it's that I read two of her books back to back. I do know I don't care much for her sense of humor.

This is a LOL book. Don't read it in bed if someone is trying to sleep next to you. You will feel the need to read the book out loud to your partner! LOVE this author.

Like reading Hollis Gillespie (my favorite writer of this my-life-as-soap-opera genre) if she had done just a bit too much speed. Funny in a kinda cute, kinda scary way.

Laurie Notaro is SO funny, one of my favorite authors and I found parts of this to be laugh-out-loud funny. She makes fun of everyone around her while making fun of herself as well. Nothing is too serious or out-of bounds for her scrutiny. Can't wait to read her other books.

I could not stop laughing reading this memoir from a Southwestern newspaper columnist turned novelist. Laurie Notaro is becoming more and more popular lately, and for good reason. This book details the mishaps of wedding planning and her first home.

Very funny; I laughed during some of the stories, and can commiserate with the lazy, messy, activity impaired husband who leaves things for me to fall over. Great read!

It was refreshing in the beginning and then around half way it didn't really offer anything imressive. Some of the humor was delightful, but not laugh out loud funny. Okay for an afternoon read.
