I have a copy of this book and I read it anew at least once a year. There is always something new that I find in the book, you will love reading about this little saint and her little way and will fall in love with St Therese.

"Story of a Soul" is an extraordinary book, but this translation, by John Beevers, is an obsolete translation of a manuscript that does not represent Therese's authentic work. Therese's sister Pauline, Mother Agnes of Jesus, heavily edited the manuscript, making about seven thousand changes to what Therese wrote. Until 1956 this edited manuscript was the only one available, and Beevers, a British layman who loved Therese very much, translated it into English.
If you want to read a translation of Therese's authentic manuscripts, read the edition of "Story of a Soul" published by ICS Publications and translated by Fr. John Clarke, O.C.D. It has gone into three editions and is acknowledged as the best English translation (and the only English translation of St. Therese's authentic manuscript).

This book is written by Therese herself in the convent. Her superior, who actually is her older sister, ordered her to write down a summary of her life and this is what came of it.
She only lived to be 24 years old and was known by only a handful of people during her life, most of which were family members and cloistered women. This fact alone expresses the utter remarkable character of Therese because her words and book are famous.
This book is incredible. I have read it multiple times. It changes the way I look at life every time too. She explains faith and love of God in very simple, yet profound ways. I don't think that anyone can walk away from reading this book without being impacted.
I would recommend this book to anyone.
This is also my favorite translation.

This was a wonderful book! Her thoughts on spirituality are simply amazing, especially considering how young she was when this book was written. I'm not a very religious person, but this book certainly inspires. She has a beautiful way of looking at life and the world.

I liked this book but found it somewhat confusing because it wasn't always clear who she was referring to when using the terms mother, sister, etc. It was wonderful in parts and I loved her "little way" but I guess I expected something else or something more.
