Although I thought the story decent, I doubt I'll continue with the series. There just wasn't enough to make me come back for more. A lot of the characters were cookie-cutter, the main one kind of whiny and loving to put blame on others for her misfortunes. Some of the scenes seemed juvenile like it came from a cheesy YA book. Also, not a ton of action happened. This book is definitely the build up for what is to come but, alas, I don't care. The good parts of the book were a couple of the characters, the beautiful setting, and the mix of the mythical creatures. Being a lover of all things dragon, I thought this would be right up my alley. I thought wrong.

I liked it enough to read the next book in the series, but it felt like there was so much world building in this one that not much actually happened. There were so many magical creatures that there wasn't much focus on any of them (weres and mers and elves, oh my!). We got the backstory and the bad dreams of possible futures. We know the leads will end up together but there was much more sword training than romance. My guess is book two will have a lot more of the actual action.
Good read
