People who like reading Lori Foster's books probably won't like L.L. Foster's books. These are not sweet little romances. Servant is a dark, violent, paranormal story with a romantic subplot. Within that genre expectation, I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed the repartee, the jockeying for position, between Luther and Gaby. But then I'm not a Lori Foster fan.

I thought this was an exciting page turner with a street smart yet innocent heroine and a tough but noble good guy hero cop. To me it was pretty clear that Gaby's missions came from God and her uneven knowledge of the world is because she was trained by a priest to be God's warrior. Luther likes her because he can't fully figure her out - a tough street kid constantly using foul language or an innocent who needs help? She's a warrior who can take care of herself physically, yet so alone she's never been on a date. I actually went out and bought the second book in the series because I liked the first so much!

Well written with fascinating characters. The author throws in some complicated words and phrases, not your usual vocabulary....makes it interesting. I'm looking forward to the next one, coming soon!

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE Lori Foster! I just don't know if this was my cuppa. It's probably great, but I think I'm missing it.

Bad! It was really wordy - I think the author tried to use every adjective in the Thesaurus - and not much action. The monsters died w/o much of a fight. The main character Gabby is not very likeable, and I really got tired of her self-pity/loathing and her weak comebacks. I was hoping for maybe a big bang finish, but NOT. It is left wide open for the next one. 2 stars of 5
