I have never read a Tom Robbins books before this one, and this maybe why I do not understand the poor reviews its been getting.
It is a short novel so there is little character development, but I feel you get to know and can relate to Gracie easily and comfortably. I read it in one sitting, and although its a little jumpy in places I found it entertaining, and enjoyable. It is exactly what it says on the tin-A Childrens book for Grown Ups and if you don't expect more than this, you will pleasantly surprised and find yourself smiling and giggling along to it.

As a beer aficionado, this was not as good a read as I hoped for.
