A "can't-put-it-down" book. It is hard to believe someone was so bold as to switch the babies. Enjoyed this very much.

This was a very interesting book (and the only book written) on the infamous 'baby swap' discovered in the 1980's. The author covered the story well, as to both girls who were switched growing up (one of them died at age 9) and what happened when the switch was discovered and for about four years afterwards. I was a little dissapointed the book was not updated to include the famous court trial in which the 14 yr. old 'baby swap' victim sued her biological parents so she would not have to visit with them anymore. Also, the book seemed to focus largely on Regina Twigg and her childhood experiences as well, which were somewhat interesting but really didn't have anything to do with the baby swap. All in all, a good read if you are interested in this case.

If you like conspiracy theories, this book is for you. Brings up some VERY intresting observations that the swap may have been deliberate and was not an accident.

From the rear cover: "Every parent's nightmare became Regina and Ernest Twigg's heartbreaking reality... The nurse put the baby down on the bed and began unfolding and refolding the receiving blanket. Regina couldn't see exactly what the nurse was doing because she was drying her eyes and her face with a handful of tissues and trying to regain her composure. What she did remember many years later was the flat, emotionless, matter-of-fact way that the nurse said, 'Here,' as she stood at arm's length and held the baby with the blue lips and dusky skin out to her. A few minutes later Ernest and Regina Twigg left Hardee Memorial Hospital carrying Barbara Coker May's sick baby. Nine years would pass before they discovered that she was not their daughter."
