This would've been a DNF but I promised the person that gave it to me that I would finish it (It took me over a year) Swedish dad Alex & Jewish mom Suzette and their child Hanna. She's a high IQ brat that refuses to speak and is daddy's girl and wants to get rid of mommy. Suzette has Krohn's disease and is an artist but is afraid of her child. She should be because Hanna is devious and wants to kill mommy to have daddy all to herself and tries numerous ways to do it Too many words and phrases in Swedish that I had to look up and far fetched reaching for story lines (Hanna channels a witch and can speak perfect French and at the end also Swedish & English). Hanna is in and out of schools for "troubled" kids where she inflicts pain on other kids, barks at teachers, & generally causes mayhem so she can be at home with daddy. Just ugh and the ending was thrown together to I guess write a sequel? Not worth the time

This book has gotten a lot of rave reviews. I read the whole book, much to my dismay. I didn't like it in the beginning, grew to like it and didn't like the ending. The ending left you hanging, open for a sequel. The girl in this this book, Hannah, is a spoiled rotten evil child. There is nothing to like about her or her parents for that matter. I am sorry that I read the book to the end.

Wow, just WOW!! I'm a mother and trust me, I've never encountered behavior described in this book. It was creepy. It was sad. And the book was so gripping.

Mother Suzette has to homeschool Hanna because she is mute and was kicked out of multiple schools. She is starting to notice more and more that sweet little Hanna may not be so sweet after all. Her behavior is disturbing in and outside the home. Hanna's smart and manipulative enough to never let Daddy see her evil schemes.

Once Suzette starts mentioning to Alex about their daughter's behavior he doesn't believe it. How can his sweet little girl do any of the creepy things that are being described? Even when the schools tell the parents about Hanna's schemes, Alex isn't willing to consider it.

No spoilers here, hope you enjoy this creepy books as much as I did.
