This is an ambitous book that simultaneously examines lesbianism, Indian culture, adolescent sexual awakening, female sexual power, relations in the Indian caste system and the transition from child to adult. The combination of all the elements works, but the sexual appetite and voracity of a teenage girl who goes from virgin to seducer in 3 simultaneous sexual relationships seems a stretch. Lots of sexual situations, so not for a prude. :)

I loved this book! It's about a lesbian teenager growing up in India. I learned a lot about India and this was a wonderful coming-of-age book!
