Ms. Green completely gets what it is like to long for a child while others come by it so easily. It's rare that someone "gets" what it is like to struggle with infertility. This is a great book for all those venturing into the world of trying to conceive, and those with kids of their own.

A wonderful story about life. Sometimes what you think you need, you don't. What you think you don't need you do! Life throws things at you and your left to deal with them. This story mingles with several women, their lives all intersect, and yet are separate. Babies, Husbands, and New York Oh my! I had fun with this one,though it did take me a little bit to get into it. But if you sit down, by chapter three you do really want to know what's going to happen. The characters are likeable and engaging.

I really enjoyed this book! It's about three different women with different views on motherhood. One is pregnant, one is trying to get pregnant, and the other doesn't want children. This book is very unpredictable and hard to put down.

I will admit that as I read the first part of the book I was starting to feel like it might be totally predictable and a little bit boring, but once I got to the second and third parts, I was surprised at how unpredictable it actually is. I absolutely LOVED this book. It's a great story about life and how the best laid plans go awry but can turn out to be the best thing. Another wonderful story by Jane Green.

I thought this book was great, although the beginning started a bit slower than any other Jane Green novels I've read. But in true Jane Green form, it quickly turned into a book that I just did not want to put down. I was a bit let down at the end. I wanted more....a sequel....something!! But that's probably just because I thought it was so good I didn't want it to end!

This is the second book I read by this author and didn't like it as much as the first. It was ok but it hard to get through. I usually hate putting a book down but not this one.

This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down and read in a few sittings. Definitely a girlie book. Simple plot about several young women from the London area. I'm not going to summarize the plot here because that would ruin the book. Needless to say it's the perfect beach/long flight/rainy weekend read. Well written but not too deep. Imagine Sex and the City characters dealing with pregnancy and motherhood.
Never read this author before and since then I have read all her books.. I think this is one of her better ones but they all are good. Awesome reading book that makes you not want to put it down.

Julia and Sam are best friends who seem be on the path. Sam is pregnant and Julia wants to become pregnant. After months of trying with Mark her in house love, Julia finally decides that she has enough with Mark, getting pregnant,and London. Enter Maeve, she ends up with both and Julia's job and though a one night stand pregnant with Mark's child. Sam has had her child George, but a case post-partum, and Sam begins to believe that she doesn't love her husband and may have affair.
This was pretty good book, that deal with real problems that couples face each day. While, I enjoyed the book, I didn't really like the way that the book was set-up. Overall, "Babyville" by Jane Green was a decent book

Set primarily in London, the novel is peppered with British idioms that only a native can read convincingly. Somerville depicts Julia, Maeve, and Sam with distinct accents, although occasionally she seems to forget who pronounces "Julia" as "Juler." As the women ride the emotional roller coasters of possible infertility, unplanned pregnancy, and life with a newborn, Somerville characterizes their feelings with delightful vocal expressions of woe, joy, doubt, and wonder. Funny - I enjoyed the intertwined stories.
Not bad. I'm not much of a chick lit reader, but I did enjoy the story and finished the book in two sittings. I enjoyed Maeve's story much more than I did Julia's and Sam's. I think that was because I liked the character of Maeve as a person more than I did the other two, but the stories all tied together in the end and everyone lived happily ever after.

jane Green is perhaps one of my favorite authors at the time. i am in a phase where I like the easy comedy reads that I can relate to. These books keep me laughing and make it hard to put them down. The characters in Babyville are so real and you can sympathize with their struggles through Green's humor.
Well-written account of the way pregnancy (or lack thereof) affects different people. Not an intellectual read, but fun.
Good, once you get into it. The first section "Julia" was a bit slow in my opinion but other two sections "Maeve" and "Sam" were great. So, get through that first section [but don't skip it because you need the back story]before you decide to stop reading. It really is good once you get past that. :)
Really cute chick-lit about three thirty-something friends who are each dealing with babies (or lack thereof): Julia is desperately trying to conceive with her not-so-excited boyfriend, Maeve is delightfully single when an unexpected pregnancy throws her world into chaos, and Sam is dealing with a new baby and finding herself attracted to someone else besides her husband.

This book is a very good brit chick lit read. Three main characters each deal with career/pregnancy/motherhood in very different ways.....different even from what they would have bet their paychecks on.....one is pregnant, one can\'t get pregnant, and the other is \"allergic\" to any type of commitment...from anybody.....You will love this hardback book.
Quick read! Not my favorite of the chick lit books.
Do they want a baby ? A couple wants a baby because they think it will fix their relationship. She goes off to explore and think. In the mean time,back on the home front he meets her work replacement and the next think you know a baby . Their relationship blooms along with the babys growth. In the end, a hook up leads to babyville with the right person.
