What a great story with lots of laughs. Kate is a cellist with no time on her hands and house with no furniture until a camera and it's tripod crash through roof and second floor ceiling. This is when her nice ordered-chaotic life take a turn towards just plain chaotic. She finally meets her new handsome next door neighbor who has won the lottery and appears to have no motivation to get a job while at the same time takes on a boarder, a 75 year old lady name Elsie Hawkins who totes around a gun in her purse. I couldn't put this book down and couldn't stop laughing, especially when Elsie was on the scene. Great book!

Sugary but far from insubstantial, eccentric characters abound in Evanovich's novels, and this title is no exception. There's Katherine Finn, a professional cellist with outrageous Little Orphan Annie hair; David Dodd, a lottery-winning hunk who is a member of the couch-potato club; and Elsie Hawkins, a 72-year-old burger slinger with a Dirty Harry style and an unlicensed WWII 45. C.J. Critt's performance is top-notch with rapid-fire repartee and sizzling sexual tension. She mixes characters, mishaps, misunderstandings, wisecracks, and romance into a well-paced mystery, which culminates in a wedding and a perfectly blended family.

Vintage Janet Evanovich! Humor, great story, what more could you want? Definitely a book to help clear your mind of pesky problems.

Janet Evanovich is a great author. Book has a lot of humor.
Light happy story that has the
evanovich touch. He plays with trains. She plays with an orchestra. So when freewheeling cartoonist David Dodd and strightlaced musician Kate Finn get together, will they make beautiful music--or a total wreck of things.

As with all of Janet Evanovich books, I loved this greatly.
One of Evanovich's earlier efforts, it features the prototype for Grandma Mazur. A quick enjoyable read.
Fun, fast read. Enjoyable book.
Fun, light-hearted book. Read it in a day.
One of her earlier stories, good quick read
Formulaic romance; not quite up to Evanovich's Stephanie Plum or Metro Girl series.

I just don't really enjoy these romance novels as muh as the Plum or Tilt series.

This is a romance novel but also an hilarous comedy. So I guess you could call it a romantic comedy. Katherine Finn is a workaholic cello player and David Dodd is a millionaire lottery winner and they live next door to each other. Things start heating up when a camera pod off of a helacopter falls through Katherine's roof. And from then on things just get crazier but along with all the zany happenings, love blooms.
I'm not usually a fan of pre-Plum Evanovich but this was a funny read with likable characters.

Back to the Bedroom is the story of a young woman with the soul of a birthday cake living in a bran muffin house -- and a nice-looking guy with the substance of a bran muffin living in a birthday cake. They share some misadventures, some romantic moments, some misunderstandings, and ultimately they turn into wedding cake.

Janet Evanovich is always a good read. This is a reprint of one of her earlier works, where two opposites meet and fall in love.
Easy fluffy read.
story of a young woman with the soul of a birthday cake living in a bran muffin house and a guy with the substance of a bran muffin living in a birthday cake. They share misadventures, romance, a pistol packing old lady and ultimately turn into wedding cake.
Very quirky.
A cute romance book - fast read. I love that the other seems to include pets in her stories, I just love animals - especially cats!
This is Evanovich more in romance mode than with the Plum series but still gripping and it introduces an early prototype of Grandma Mazur for good entertainment. Very fascinating and unpredictable.

HILARIOUS! Just as good as the stephanie plum series
A light weight romp that presents diversion from day to living. Not one of her finest, but fun.
Back to the Bedroom is cute and quirky, but a very fast and light read. There are definitely shades of the Stephanie Plum series. So if you enjoyed them, you should probably like this one.
This book was originally published in 1989 and republished in 2005. It's an early Janet Evanovich romance but is typical of her later style. The story is fun and has an unusual caste of characters. Is is set in Washington, D.C.

Another re-release of an early Evanovich with what the author states as minor repaires to embarrassing goofs. Kate is easily likable in her extremely disorganized world. David Dodd is her new neighbor who apparantly does nothing all day. Elsie the geriatric tennent of Kate's third floor is the saving grace of this story. She is such a hoot and she definitely is early shades of Stephanie Plum's Grandma Mazur. One gripe I have is this is practically a love at first sight book. I don't believe in them...I don't like to read them. With that in mind I would have to say that while the humor is on target as only Evanovich can do the romance part is lacking quite a bit.
I found this book boring. Maybe if you like Evanovich a lot you would like this book. The first book of her's that I read was good, but I definitely didn't like this one.
This book is a cute little romance read. I love anything by Janet Evanovich and cannot get enough of her! I love all her quirky little romance novels that are being re-released!

If you love the Plum series, this may dissappoint you. It did me. Just a superficial romance, it's okay for a diversion. Just really girly girl, and playful, frivilous and a bit of fun.
A fun quick enjoyable read that will keep you entertained!

More of the same humor and unbelievably wild antics from Evanovich. I am not as much a fan of her Non-Stephanie Plum books, but this one was terrifically funny, in the same mold as Stphanie Plum. Her Grandma Mazur prototype is right on target. Loved every page of it, but was disappointed to find I read the whole thing in one night! Couldn't put it down.
when I started reading this, I realised I'd read it many years ago in it's first imprint ... it was still just as funny and enjoyable with larger than life characters. If you like Grandma Mazur from the Plum series then there is a character in this one who will have you screaming with laughter!
Loved this book. Another great Evanovich book.

Cute love story.

Funny, light romance reading. Reminds me a lot of the Stephanie Plum series.
I'm not that into romance books but since this was Evanovich I decided to give it a try. It's a fun book with lots of funny situations and the action keeps moving.
Hilarious and entertaining earlier work from Janet Evanovich.
Great fun! My favorite Janet Evanovich so far!

Early work by this author, pre 'Plum". I really thought it was good. Glad I got an oppotunity to get this at PBS, since it was a reprint, I did not want to buy it in the store.
A good fun read. Great when you want something light to read.
An amusing romance about a woman who lives in a "bran muffin" type house, but who has the soul of a birthday cake and a guy with the soul of a bran muffin, who lives next door to her, in a birthday cake house.

Very easy read. Funny and light.
Lottery winner David Dodd is just getting settled into his new house and neighborhood when he takes note of his workaholic neighbor, Kate Finn. A cellist, Kate seems always to be on the go.
While sitting out front one morning, Dave witnesses a large object fall from the sky and crash through Kate's roof. Luckily, Kate was already out of bed, but she now has a rather large hole to deal with. Seizing the opportunity to get to know his cute neighbor, Dave makes himself indispensablewhich turns out to be a good thing, as more weird people and events start to inhabit Kate's formerly predictable life.

Evanovich's style combines murder, mystery, romance and comedy. Its hard to take her books in public since it is inevitable that you will burst out laughing!

Not one of her better ones. Didn't recognize Grandma Mazar at all in the character Elsie. Judge for yourself.
This was ok for me, not my favorite book. The old lady in this story is sooo funy, you can see where Grandma Mazer came from in the Stephanie Plum series.
Great summer read. Quick and fluffy, but still enjoyable as are all of Evanovich's books.
Obviously I'm hooked on Janet's type writing!
A quick and fun read. Not as good as the Stephanie Plum series, but it was enjoyable.
Very fast read. Entertaining and funny.

I picked this up because I enjoy the author, her characters are usually delightfully quirky. A quick read.
Evanovich scores again! I love her books!! This one is about a young cellist (Cello-ist?) who moves in next door to a man who will teach her how to just let loose and have fun. (Side note: Her new boarder will crack you up!)
This book was quirky, but fun. It was fairly humorous, but not as funny as Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, although Elsie reminded me of a twenty-years younger Grandma Mazur. :)
I always think its corny when people fall deeply in love and repeatedly think about marriage after just four days, but it was altogether an enjoyable book anyway.

Kate, a very serious cellist, cannot understand why the man next door is always goofing off. Doesn't he have a steady job? Doesn't he have something better to do? When a piece of antenna falls through her roof, David rushes over to make sure she is alright, and begins to help Kate find a little fun in life. A new kitten and an elderly tenant keep them on their toes... Good one.

great lightweight read, enjoyable. a little predictable but none the less quite good.
Fun eazy read. You knew the ending but just couldn't put it down had to keep reading, only took one sitting.
For months he'd thought of her as the Mystery Woman, draped in a black velvet cloak, with outrageous red curls, flawless skin, and carrying a large, odd case-- but the night David Dodd saw a helicopter drop a chunk of metal through the roof of his lovely neighbor's bedroom, he got to meet the formidable and delightful Katherine Finn at last! Rescuing damsels and fixing roofs was dangerous work, he told her, and at the very least he deserved a kiss-- didn't he? Kate couldn't argue with Dave's logic, but how could she, the driven concert musician with more commitments than hours in the day, be falling head over heels for a likeable cuddler who seemed to be drifting through life? No one had ever made her feel as cherished or desirable, and she'd never had so much fun, but even though her eccentric boarder, Elsie, assured her that where Kate was concerned Dave had plenty of ambition, could she really love a guy who was just smart, sexy, and rich?
