As a middle school teacher in the Bronx, I often find it difficult to find books that will appeal to my students. I just finished reading this book and am not sure how it will be recepted by my students but I think they will enjoy it as it talks about places in their city that they have experienced. This book takes the reader from 2006 to 1918, then 1932, then into the era of World War II. The protragonist meets many interesting characters along the way and experiences a NYC that will make readers want to delve deeper into NY's history. This book would be a great crossover between Social Studies and ELA curriculum for those classes studying American History. A quick and entertaining read for all ages!
