This is a very dark book. A very poor, but brilliant student from India misunderstands to friendship of a young woman who is desperate for love. Socially insecure and battling a controlling old world father, the girl is both flattered and disgusted by the slavish attention of the young Indian. The path followed by each of this pair is detailed for over a year as it leads to a single, tragic end for both.

Prosenjit Poddar and Tanya Tatasoff were caught in a clash of cultures- in a fatal misunderstanding. What she she offered as friendship, he took as love. His love grew into obsession...rage...madness and inevitable, irrevocable violence.. You read the rest!! Good book Terrifying and chilling..a powerful and engrossing account

This is the true crime novelization of the famous Tatiana Tarasoff case in California. ( I say "novelization" because the author admits fictionalizing certain aspects; combining characters; putting thoughts into the minds of the victim and the murderer, which somewhat diminished its appeal for me.) However, it's a good beach or vacation read.
