I love stories where the daddy loves his kids to distraction. Trace knew how to play silly games and he really listened to them.
Geralyn mixes just enough fun with love and danger to keep my nose in the book until the end. She also makes the characters come to life so they feel like friends and family that I truly care about.

I enjoy Geralyn Dawson's stories and this era was new for me. It took alittle to get into the storyline but did become engrossed in it after a couple chapters. Very enjoyable read and am now waiting for The Bad Luck Wedding Cake. These take place in the 1800's for a different read. I highly recommend this series.

Sometimes, authors allow children to become a pain in a story; Geralyn Dawson has the good sense to allow these three motherless girls to become terrors. They are a howl with no end in sight.

They are actually the three daughters of Trace McBride: known as the McBride Menaces. They never plan to cause a problem; things just get in the way. At present, they have decided that they want a mother but Trace, as a widower with a terrible secret, has had all he wants of women.

Trace rents space to Jenny Fortune, a struggling seamstress, trying to make her fortune. One of her most amazing creations, a wedding dress, was used by Big Jack Baileys 4 daughters, each of whom had an awful accident. The dress is now referred to as: the Bad Luck Wedding Dress and Jennys dress shop has turned into a ghost town.

Superstitious Big Jack Bailey isn't one to take things calmly; he is bent on destroying Jennys business. Jenny has part of the downstairs for her modiste. * The Menaces and their father live in the floors above. Because Trace is so busy (and the Menaces manage to run off housekeepers at an amazing rate), the girls start to spend a lot of time with Jenny. They decide that Jenny would be perfect as their new Mama.

Trace has designed his new home and is making plans to return to his former career as an architect. He wants to sell this saloon and become respectable again.

The Menaces have other plans; they try to keep Jenny and Trace near each other so they can fall in love. These two are too stubborn to see what they are looking at; but the Menaces have the title stubborn all sewn up.

Jenny decides that she needs to get married and wear her Bad Luck Wedding Dress to show her work isn't cursed. Jenny thinks Trace would be a perfect choice but fate interferes and another groom offers marriage.

Well, the new groom didnt check with the Menaces before making the offer and they are not happy. This is a funny, cute story that will have you laughing out loud. Jenny is a perfect parent for the Menaces because shes just as unpredictable as the 3 girls.

* Fashionable milliner or dressmaker.

First in her new series, centers around Jenny Fortune and her "bad Luck" with her finest creations, her dressmaking business was about to go under. Wearing the gown to her own wedding might have been drastic but she would do anything to turn her luck around even marry a awidower with 3 kids to prove everyone wrong.

Jenny Fortune's dress shop is in trouble when Big Jack Bailey claims the wedding dress she made his daughters caused their bad luck. Everyone started calling it "The Bad Luck Wedding Dress" and her business dried up. The only way she knows to get her business back is to wear the dress at her own wedding and make it a good luck dress. Her quickest candidate for a husband is her landlord, Trace McBride, the widowed father of three young daughters. He definitely needs some help with the girls. Around town they are known for their antics and have been nicknamed the "McBride Menaces". Trace had never paid any attention to his tenant until his daughters point out that she would make them a good mother. Trace has no intention of ever marrying again, but can't help but admit that he needs help with the girls.

Trace is a hero with a dark past. He was burned by his first wife and is not willing to give marriage another try. Of course, Jenny is the perfect woman for him, winning his trust and his love. It took me a few chapters to get into this story, but enjoyed it once it got rolling. The mischief the girls get into is fun. I can't wait to see what they do in the next book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
