Both the author and the protagonist are masterminds in this caper-gone-wrong.

The writing is top notch. The characters are credible and lovable. The plot outlandish. The outcome is inevitable.

When I am between books, I need a book to get me to my next book. There are several authors I turn to in such times of need. Westlake and his improbable hero John Archibald Dortmunder is one of my favorites. Sure I know what's going to happen, but I know the end of Romeo and Juliet and Oklahoma too. I still go see a production when I can to immerse myself in the music and dance.

Westlake plays the music. Dortmunder, Kelp and Tiny sing the songs and dance the dances. I relax and enjoy until I can find another book to read.
