this book really captures what the life of a real ballerina is, while still telling a great story. i definitely recommend this book!
Author is Edward Stewart.
From the back cover: "Never before has there been a novel so rich, so authentic, so filled with the special magic of the ballet! Stephanie and Christine share a career, an apartment in New York, even a lover...for they share a dream like no other in the world. They are dancers. And from the terror of Steph's first audition, to the sweet taste of Chris' first solo, to the trembling love each brings to the Russian star who betrays them both, we share with them all the romance and excitment of the dance. And the heartbreak as well. For there are no happy endings in ballet. Only magnificent ones."

Picked this up at an airport in Australia. Great read, even without extensive knowledge of the ballet world.
