This story and the first one, Little House in the Big Woods, are my favorite 2 books in the Little House series. An ox makes a hole in their ceiling, they live underground, you meet Nellie(think it was in this one! been a while!) and they make necklaces out of buttons...just love this story and Laura is still young-young and fun!

I read the entire series many times as a kid. I loved these books & so did my daughter. I recommend this series for all kids who need a break from the sci-fi/fantasy/cartoon books that are out there now.

Excellent book from the series. It was really fun-filled and adventurous. I really felt swooped in this story. It is about life in another new home in which the Ingalls moved to. We find out about "grasshopper weather", blizzards in Minnesota, about the girls attending school and church for the first time outside of what they learned in their own homes, and how Laura got to deal with spoiled Nellie Oleson!

The Ingalls move to a sod house in Minnesota. Then Pa builds them a new house on credit. The grasshoppers destroyed the wheat crop and Pa can't pay his loan.

The Ingalls family moves from Kansas to Minnesita. This is the story of their adventure. A very heartwarming story.

We like this book a lot. We have enjoyed all the Laura books and don't seem to get bored by them at all.

The family's first home in Minnesota was made of sod. But Pa builds a clean new house beside Plum Creek. The money for materials will come from their first wheat harvest. Then, just before the wheat is ready to harvest , a strange glittering cloud fills the sky, blocking out the sun. Soon millions of grasshoppers cover the field and everything on the farm. In a week's time, there is no wheat crop left at all.

The adventures of Laura Ingalls and her family continue as they leave their little house on the prairie and travel in their covered wagon to Minnesota. Here they settle in a little house made of sod beside the banks of beautiful Plum Creek. Soon Pa builds a wonderful new little house with real glass windows and a hinged door. Laura and her sister Mary go to school, help with the chores, and fish in the creek. At night everyone listens to the merry music of Pa's fiddle. Misfortunes come in the form of a grasshopper plague and a terrible blizzard, but the pioneer family works hard together to overcome these troubles.
