This is the first book of The Kent Family Chronicles. It begins in England and follows the young illegitimate Phillipe Charboneau from his emmigration from there to America, where he changes his name to Philip Kent. This novel takes him to the point of becoming a soldier in the Revolutionary War. This historical novel is accurate and fast moving. I enjoyed it very much.

Excellent book! I love this series by John Jakes. Almost better than his North and South book. This book has a small rip on the back cover, but other than that, it is in good shape.

I love this book. I read it years ago when it first came out, and I'm enjoying reading it again. Vivid detail, history, romance... what's not to love?
