I have this book on my TBR list. Someday I'll get around to reading it---there are 1,700+ on my TBR list---but I just wanted to comment on the title. If the Battle of New Orleans was "America's First Military Victory," would someone explain how we won the American Revolution? The Continental Army did have some victories. Yes we did have foreign help from the French, and their fleet did contribute to our victory at the Battle of Yorktown. But what about the Battle of Saratoga? It was our victory there which decided the French to assist us. An entire British Army surrendered to us at Saratoga.
Then there were several previous battles in the War of 1812 which were victories for our Army. I suggest readers go to Wikipedia and do a search for Jacob Brown, a Quaker who led our troops to several victories on the Canadian border.
Including "First Military Victory" in the title is just marketing hype to help sell the book.
When I finally read the book, I'll generate a more comprehensive review.
