Great beach read.... about three girls who grew up together on a Connecticut beach. A great story about friendship that travels generations and lasts forever
Helpful Score: 1
This book continues the story of the three women introduced in "Beaches." It's a beautiful book, as Rice's writing is not shallow, and one becomes absorbed very quickly. Highly recommended.

This is a tale of the friendship of three girls who grew up on the shores of Hubbard's Point, Connetticut. As women, they lost touch but they're all still connected as "The Beach Girls".I loved its simplicity and honest good story--- but didn't like the bit about the Catholic priest deciding to chuck his vocation for a fling with a married woman. I've been Catholic for many years and have never met a priest who would even contemplate such a thing.

An easy read, an enjoyable story of coming to terms with loss and love and disappointment.

Wonderful storyline and beautiful story. Loved it!
This is a lovely and heart warmings story about lonely people who find themselves and each other.
Twenty-five years ago three friends grew from girls to women on the sandy shores of Hubbard's Point, Connecticut, forging a bond they swore would last always. Then time and distance drew them apart-and one was lost forever. Now her nine-year-old daughter has returned to the Point with her widowed father, longing to find the "beach girls" of her mother's stories.
But after years of heartbreak, artist Stevie Moore has withdrawn into a self-imposed exile. And for Maddie Kilvert, Hubbard's Point has becomea place where innocence and tragedy forever intertwine. Can memories of blue skies and laughter bring them together again to embrace a lonely girl and a wounded man?

Rice returns to her quintessential beach community of Hubbard's Point, Connecticut, and three childhood girlfriends now grown up. Stevie, Emma, and Maddie were inseparable and vowed to always be friends, but life and love intruded. Stevie has become a recluse still living in her father's house at the beach, but her isolation is shattered when Emma dies in a car crash and her nine-year-old daughter, Nell, comes to Stevie in search of lost female influences, including that of Maddie, with whom she was once close. The healing powers of the beautiful beach, and of friendship, work their magic on Nell and Stevie as both influence each other lives and as Nell's father struggles with his conflicting emotions over his wife's death. Rice's characters forge new connections in this beautiful and tender love story set against an idyllic backdrop of sand and surf and dealing with many facets of love. Another winner for Rice, who breathes life into poignant tales not only about love but also about forgiveness.
very good book about friendship
This book was hard to put down. I love a good summer read and this one fits that perfectly. Stevie Moore is my favorite character in this book.
"True friendships -- like True Love -- are made to last forever.'
Luanne Rice touches the deepest most tender corners of the heart.

Great to read while laying by the pool.
My mother read this book and loved it.
brand new book so It's no good shape
The novel that inspired the Lifetime TV Miniseries
Sweet read.
Very enjoyable reading.
Wonderful book, I love this author. I have read almost all her books. 1-5 I give it a 5
While summering in the seaside town of Hubbard's Point, Conn., Emma Lincoln, Stevie Moore and Maddie Kilvert, the titular beach girls, were inseparable, but as adults, they've drifted apart. Stevie lives like a hermit in Hubbard's Point, unaware that her old friend Emma died in a car crash, leaving behind a husband, a child and secrets. When widower Jack brings his daughter, Nell, to the Point, Nell searches out her last link to her mother: Stevie. A bestselling children's author, Stevie is drawn to Nell and her attractive dad, but the protagonists must struggle with doubts and fears before they can consider a future together. This book is more sentimental and less suspenseful than Rice's previous novels, and fans of her earlier book, The Perfect Summer, may find the premise-a spouse who dies suddenly, with secrets that leave family in disarray-overly familiar. Fortunately, Rice's gorgeous descriptions and sensitive characterizations compensate for those flaws. Few writers evoke summer's translucent days so effortlessly, or better capture the bittersweet ties of family love. Agent, Andrea Cirillo. (Aug.) Forecast: Those who can't get to the beach will feel transported there upon opening this book, which will likely be a seaside essential for many readers.
This is a wonderful book! It's theme is that "summer firendships never end.."
Good read.It made me laugh and cry.
This is a delightful "beach book". a good read for those long summer days!
Good book, the beach girls had a real friendship but drifted apart, tells how they got back together and how life has no guarentees.
It's a good beach read, and enjoyable, but not very memorable. The story involve three girls who became friends on a CT beach. The girls grow up, find love, write stories, survive car accidents, or attempt to run away with a priest.
Luanne Rice never disapoints,
Very good book. I loved it.
This one centers around Hubbards Point, another bestseller from Luanne Rice about friends growing up and growing apart, then coming back to the Point and learning to love again.
love lost, parents changed, innocence lost, love found. Nice easy beach read!
Loved this book!! Reminds me of my childhood friends although we weren't on the beach but in rural Oklahoma.
Unfortunately I read the sequel to this book "Last Kiss" before Beach Girls. Because of that I had a real problem with her timeline. In this book, Nell is 9, her father is 48 and Stevie is 44. In Last Kiss Nell is 18 and Stevie and her father are expecting a baby. That means that Stevie got pregnant when she was 53! Not a likely scenario. I am left to wonder why she made Stevie and Jack so old in Beach girls. Other than that problem, the book was pretty good.
the unforgetable story of three girls whose friendship spans twenty five years, that echoes across generations., and the mystic seaside town where it all began. a good summer/beach read.
Another great book by Luanne Rice.
Light hearted and fun read about three close friends relationships that occurred twenty five years ago, and believed to last forever. They have grown apart since then until the nine year old daughter of one of them, whose mother died, reaches out to the others, in search of knowing and understanding her mother. This brings the survivors together again,.
Its about friends and old loves coming together. Trying to find the stories of their mothers beach girls.
Loved this summer read!
excellent work by luanne rice, currently a made-for-tv movie.
Easy reading. A girl learns about her deceased mothers long ago summer friends & her father learns how to face the past & let go.
Loved it - nice romance with a bit of intrigue.
I liked this story. Maybe its becuase I liked the idea of a beach community or perhaps becuase I like the idea of the stories of lifelong friends.
Great Book - BETTER than the Movie...lol
Quick and easy summer read.
This is a story of great loss, and finding those who have been absent for far too long. The purity of a child's vision brings those who have rifts between them together again.

This was good, I enjoyed the characters, some of whom I'd met before in another book. I read it on the beach, it seeming like the appropriate place for a book of this name.

about 3 woman who were friends, and how the daughter returned to where they used to be to try to find the beach girls that her mom used to tell her about

The story of three girls spans 25 years. Time drives them apart but circumstances reunite two of the "beach girls" and the widower of the third and his daughter. A nice tale and they have made it a TV series.

I loved this book. Luanne Rice's books' always touch your heart.
Much better than I thought it would be. It too was super easy reading and I read it in one day at the beach.
Again another great book by Luanne Rice! As you may already know this book was also made into a movie!
I liked this story very much. This writer draws you into the scenery of the story place and makes you feel as if you are right there with the characters.
True friendships, like true love, are made to last forever. If you caught the TV version you MUST read the book.
This book is much better than the movie was.
I read this book in 2 days...very heart felt wonderful book!
This book is a great read. Very heartwarming and makes you feel good!
Great book about friendship, marriage, love and growing up.
Three girls grew up summering on Hubbard's Point. Now only two are left-and the one who is gone is not at all forgotten.
Another great book by one of my favorite authors. Three women were friends years ago, and one of their daughters returns to Hubbard Point to discover the story of the "beach girls".
3 friends, grew up together, then separated - one died and a young daughter returns to find the "beach girls" Great story, drama and romance.
Awesome heartfelt read.
What a great story. Nice quick read too.
Great book!
Cried like a baby through most of this book. The old saying that you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family sure holds true in this book.
For some reason this book just didn't hold my attention; too predictable.
Enjoyable!!
brand new book
This book was made into a mini series for tv. I liked it okay.
Really cute book
Good story about a father & daughter recovering from the death of their wife/mother. They go to Hubbard's Point to help their healing and meet an old friend of the wife/mother. A journey of discovery & healing well written.

it's a beach read called 'Beach Girls'! Need I say more!
Luanne Rice is one of my favorite "lite" writers.
A light read
