It was an entertaining mystery, although a bit far fetched in places. It's an easy read and keeps you interested. I finished it in about a day and a half on vacation.

Yet another super-fast-paced thriller by James Patterson!

A young man parking cars at a fancy party is found dead on the beach. The police rule it a suicide, but his family and friends know it was murder. However, the rich and powerful do everything they can to cover up the evidence and the motive. Can his brother bring them to justice?

Patterson knows how to write a interesting story. This legal thriller makes John Grisham look pale in comparison. A definite must-read for those who enjoy a good... no, make that GREAT... legal/murder thriller!!!

This is (yet another) fantastic book by James Patterson. I used to live on Long Island, and he captures the differences between "the locals" and the "summer people" perfectly. A great murder mystery with lots of twists.

When police in his hometown dismiss Jack Mullen's brother's drowning death as either an accident or suicide Jack knows something is wrong. His brother was an expert swimmer who knew the local waters well, and the police seem to be going out of their way not to investigate. Jack's own investigation uncovers a life he never knew his bother had... one that some very prominent locals don't want exposed.

A wonderful combination of mystery and legal thriller, the "courtroom" showdown that ends this book is one of the most gripping, and clever, I've read in a while.

Patterson could have written this book without the help. I like Patterson's style and move-along plots. This plot however, with the autopsy on Peter's body getting passed off as a drowning-suicide, was a disappointment. The rich buy the courts, but not with the kinds of evidence the coroner presented. The ending really frosts the cake when they have their "Kangaroo Court" in the abandoned Beach house over a two-day span. Since it wasn't terrible, I gave it three stars.

I loved this book! I just finished reading it for the second time and it was just as good the second time around if not better. James Patterson is truly amazing when it comes to keeping you guessing. This book has it all, intrigue, scandal, betrayal. Jack Mullen, a young aspiring lawyer, returns home to find his brother Peter dead. As he uncovers the truth about his brother's death he discovers much more about the people in his town. Once you start reading this book you wont be able to put it down. This book takes you into the high society lifestyle, and exposes all their secrets. This book is an easy read, and when you read the last pages, the ending will blow you away. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. If you enjoy mysteries, you will love this book.

Jack Mullen is a driven student of the law. His brother Peter is a servant of the rich, parking the cars of the Hamptons' elite - and perhaps satisfying their more intimate needs as well. Then Peter's body is found on the beach. Jack knows the drowning was no accident, but someone's unlimited power and money have bought the cops, the judges, the system. Now Jack is learning a lesson in justice he never got in law school, and his astonishing plan to beat the billionaires will have you reeling and cheering to the very last page.

When I first read James Patterson years ago I liked his writing style and the succinct way he gets to the point, the plot twists and short cliff-hanging chapters that keep up your interest. I would really like Patterson books a LOT... if it weren't for the shocking violence and/or graphic sex! I am certainly no prude, but this book, though entertaining in it's own way, left me sheeding tears of empathy for one character, while at the same time shocked by the content. If you can read this type of material without getting emotionally involved, ( if it's your cuppa tea) then it is recommended. I certainly think when I began reading this book that it would go in the direction it did. i know that's vague, but I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't read it yet.

From the back of the box: "Jack Mullen is in law school in New York City when the news comes that his brother, Peter, has drowned in the ocean off East Hampton. Jack knows his brother practically grew up in the water, and that this couldn't be an accident. Someone must have wanted his brother dead.
But the police say otherwise. As Jack tries to uncover details of his brother's last night, he confronts a maddening barricade of lawyers, police, and paid protectors who separate the wealthy summer residents from local workers like Peter. Motivated by a hundred forms of grief, Jack rallies his hometown friends to help him find the truth of Peter's death-no matter how rich or corrupt the people who stand in their way.
Jack's relentless crusade puts him into a head-on collision with one of the most powerful and ruthless men in New York, a man who wipes out resistance with a snap of his fingers. As it unfolds that his brother was involved with some of the richest women and men in America-in ways Jack never imagined-his dream of justice fades. Only if he can somehow beat the rich at their own game will he be able to avenge his brother."

Jack Mullen is in law school in New York City when the news comes that his brother, Peter, has drowned in the ocean off East Hampton. Jack knows his brother practically grew up in the water, and that this couldn't be an accident. Someone must have wanted his brother dead." "But the police say otherwise. As Jack tries to uncover details of his brother's last night, he confronts a maddening barricade of lawyers, police, and paid protectors who separate the wealthy summer residents from local workers like Peter. Motivated by a hundred forms of grief, Jack rallies his home-town friends to help him find the truth of Peter's death - no matter how rich or corrupt the people who stand in their way." Jack's relentless crusade puts him into a head-on collision with one of the most powerful and ruthless men in New York, a man who wipes out resistance with a snap of his fingers. As it unfolds that his brother was involved with some of the richest women and men in America - in ways Jack never imagined - his dream of justice fades. Only if he can somehow beat the rich at their own game will he be able to avenge his brother.

"The Beach House by James Patterson was a pretty good book and I would recommend it for anyone to read.
The book is pretty much about a murder. A man named Jack Mullen who is a student of the law (a lawyer) brother is killed. They say the murder was from drowning, but he was really beaten to death. The police wont help and neither will anyone else because really behind the sence the rich people run the town.
Jack Mullen is in search of why his brother really died and the rich dont like snooping around too much so it makes things pretty interesting. So it makes you think what did Peter do that got them so upset and what is Jack really getting himself into.
Really great book, pick it up today!" amazon review

This book was good and I could not decide who did it until close to the end. I didn't like that the man who was killed was a prostitute for wealthy people, should have said that it the description.

Another great Patterson story - this time it is rich vs working class, neighbors and friends sticking together and "amazingly", justice proving it often isn't "for all"...
