The Fourteenth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series puts Rhage and Mary in the forefront. Rhage has been acting strangely. Lately he has had anxiety attacks and is drifting away from his shellan. Mary is busy working at Safe Place and helping a young girl who lost her only parent. As they discuss their lives and where they want to go in the future, they make a discovery that could change everything.
It's nice to get back to Rhage and Mary. They've had very little to do since their book (#2) and it's nice to revisit this couple. Their story was good, but other than the opening scene, there were really no surprises. You could guess very quickly how their problems would be resolved.
As usual, Ward has moved several storylines forward. Drug dealer Assail has agreed to help Wrath by going undercover to infiltrate the Glymera. This portion of the book was great. I wasn't much of a fan of Assail in previous books, but I am now a fan.
The Scribe Virgin has been quiet in the last few books. Now she isn't answering her communications at all. We find out what is up with that.
A group of humans may have recorded Rhage turning into the Beast during a battle. Another human, Jo, has seen their recording and wants to know if monsters exist.
Layla is expecting Qhuinn's twins and is having some problems with her pregnancy. xCor is in trouble and his life may be ending soon. I know their book will come out next and I'm looking forward to it. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
