With refreshing characters set in a small town after the Civil War, Love has built a great community. This is the second book in the series, so I was a little lost at the beginning, but the author does a superb job of filling the reader in so it can be read as a standalone. Love delivers a deep sigh read!

This was such a good book! Beauty for Ashes is the second book in the series about Hickory Ridge by Dorothy Love. It is the story of Carrie, the Civil War widow who has grieved for years over the loss of her beloved young husband. She has finally stopped wearing black and is trying to enjoy life again. Of course, many problems are headed her way. Highly recommended!
