A Victorian murder mystery featuring a London Police Superintendent and his socialite wife. The authors characterizations and historical research is flawless. A very good read!
I enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and the detective, thomas pitt, has a wonderful mind and a great personality. The story just moves right along and doesn't lose steam. Great read. delightful classic detective novel. Ms. Perry's descritpion of victorian london is marvelous.
Excellent book with interesting plot. When a dead body is found on the steps of a member of the English upper class in London, Pitt begins a search that leads to intrigue and sub-plots. In typical Anne Perry fashion, social ills of the time period are highlighted along with the contrast of the social classes in London in the late 1800s. I enjoy watching the characters develop throughout the series and we learn more about Sargeant Tellman in this book. You won't be disappointed in this tale.
