A haunting tale of a a terrible crime (it is fiction but based on an actual event)...It is told in different points of view, the victim, the attackers, the searcher, the loved ones left behind. I found this book to be a little hard to grasp in the beginning with the point of view changing every chapter...but once I hit 100 pages in I couldn't put it down. It was wonderfully woven together...when it ended I just kind of said WOW. I highly recommend this book to those you that like mystery, and or crime novels.
I listened to this on audio CD and was enthralled the whole way through. Excellent two person narration of a sad and haunting story. Fans of southern and crime fiction take note. This is a story that will stay with me a very long time, Very highly recommended.
I have very mixed feelings about this book. It is the story of the abduction and murder of a troubled young woman by a psychopath who lives nearby. The story is told from many points of view, a la Jodi Picoult: the victim's fiance, her mother, the killer, his accomplice, and a "searcher" who is working to find her. There were so many voices speaking in the first half of the book that I felt the plot slowed, and none of the characters seemed very appealing. However, during the second half of the book the story came together, and lives of the characters became more interconnected. I rate this book 4 stars: 3 for the first half, and 5 for the second.
