What heart-warming tale! I do not normally like tales with much romance but this one has two romances from different time periods.

Like the author who was once a museum curator. Charley, the key character occupies that role. Like others employed in this sector she has supporters and nonsupporters. She lives with her niece, Rachel, who is grieving the loss of her parents and the location is a town on the shores of Long Island. In addition, she has a boyfriend who rules the time they spend together. Rachel dislikes the boyfriend for that very reason.

As Charley becomes more involved in her job she realizes there is much more to the life of the man to whom the museum is dedicated than local lore leads people to believe. And, she wonders about his sister, Lydia, who seems to be shadowy figure in the story. She proposes that the sister become part of museum focus and begins to research who who she was. Of course, she is opposed but ploughs ahead to find the proof she needs to support her belief. So the story unwinds.
