I received this book as a Goodreads first-reads winner.

The main characters throughout the book are teenage twins Alice and Bert "Rabbit" Hatmaker. Both are selected to attend and perform at a district event - Alice in theater and Rabbit in orchestra - at the Bellweather hotel. A terrible act of violence occurred in the hotel years prior and the events and characters introduced in the story are all affected directly or indirectly by that tragedy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are well developed and the plot is interesting and unpredictable from beginning to end. No one in the story is perfect and some aren't even likable, but thy are all believable. I would definitely recommend!

Relatively fast moving story with lots of twists & turns (also jumped around a lot between characters & previous happenings). Not many likeable characters, but some I enjoyed disliking. At times I thought about not finishing the book, but was just curious enough to see it through. Not sorry I did, but won't be reading more than once.
