this book was a delight, from the first page to the last, except, that at one point i said to my self.... oh i hope she is not going to make "so and so" the murderer, and she did :( the only other problem with this book, is, it left me REALLY wanting coffee cake! (Fortunately there is a recipe for it in the back of the book) even with the murderer being who it was, i REALLY enjoyed this one, and can't wait to read the rest!

This is set on Lake Michigan in clearly a Cranberry farm. It was well done. The main character liked to read classic mysteries, and her love interest/ and prime suspect owns an used book store. The law officer was a female detective who was in her last month of pregnancy. I liked that the Law enforcer was not hostile nor bumbling. The mystery was good. The villain unlikable. I also liked that the main character actually liked her family and got along with them well enough.
There is a cat on the front cover but she doesnt play too much into the main characters lives. The black cat is named Midnight and is owned by twin spinster sisters who own a candy store. The cat comes up missing, but is found and does play a small role in providing an alibi for one character.
Put this one on your WL, it is worth reading, I read all 288 pages in one night. I just wanted to know what happens next.

Lovely first book in a new series by Peg Cochran. A nice cozy with more realistic characters than some. Looking forward to the second book - started it today!
I liked this book a lot & read it very quickly. I look forward to reading the next in the series~!
