This was the first 'adult' mystery I read, when I was nine or ten years old. It was just as good forty years later.
One of the classic Miss Jane Marple titles. Recommended!

This is billed as a Miss Marple mystery, however, she is little more than an eavesdropping snoop in this one. Yes, she does pick up some essential information, but Chief Detective Davy of Scotland Yard solves the two cases (a syndicated crime operation, and a murder). While the book held my interest, Davys sniffing out the hotel as central to the crime wave is a tad far fetched. As with most of her books, this one can be read easily in an evening.
