As I finished STAKED, number 8 in the Iron Druid series, I was happy because I only had one book - SCOURGED - to go. Alas, such was not the case. In the intro for SCOURGED, Hearne specifically says that this book of short stories is necessary for continuity of the series.
I hate short stories. That's why I was going skip this book in the first place.
But I went through it anyway, and they're fine if you like short stories, and supposedly I now have important plot points for the end of the series.
No point in reading it if you're not following the series, though, while there are stories that are just episodes in the life of Atticus and Oberon you need to know them to enjoy it at all.
