On behalf of Sandra Brown, I would like to apologize to all of her ardent admirers who spent money on, wasted time reading, or even looked at the cover of this book for more than ten seconds. I would imagine that the content of this book is the reason "Sandra Brown" is in a much larger font size than the title. So that is all the consumer will see, and buy the book.
I just got through reading all the other reviews on this book. SEE? It is so bad, all they want to do is repeat what is on the back. Their mothers probably told them all that if you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all. Not ME. This book is BAD and not in a good way.

I've read a lot of Sandra Brown's books and while this one was "readable", I could not believe how silly the plot was, and how poorly the characters were fleshed out. Our "hero" was constantly running his hands through his hair - have you ever seen a real man run his hands through his hair in frustration? This one did it almost daily. This was written in 1989 but I don't think it was her first book. It's still readable, but treating it as "camp" will make it more enjoyable.

Good but not as captivating as other Sandra Brown Books. It does have it's twists and turns and kept me guessing until almost the end of the book. Read it once...won't read it again!

One of three powerful men murdered Alexandra's mother twenty five years ago...or so she believes. She will risk everything to uncover the past. A very good mystery.

Alexandra Gaither's mother was murdered 25 years ago. Her killer was never brought to justice. Now she is reopening the case and confronting three powerful men who were with her mother that fateful night.

Ugh. Where do I start? The heroine runs around town questioning suspects. When she is not accusing them of murder, she is attending dinners and parties with them. Everytime she uncovers a secret from the past (there are many) she either confronts a suspect with her suspicions...or goes back to her hotel room to cry. The romance between the heroine and one of her suspects is terrible. We're supposed to believe they love each other? The characters are not fleshed out at all. There is no suspense in this book. The murderer is very easy to figure out. If you want to read a Sandra Brown book, don't start with this one. My rating: 1.5 stars.
