Voltaire is a deeply involved book, heavy on the philosophy of the times. If you like philosophy, this is a good one to have. It delves pretty deeply into ssubjcts and leterary works, sometimes hard for me to follow, but I am no philosopher. Recommend for anyone with interests along those lines.

There is much to learn in this book, and as a philosopher first, Voltaire implies he has knowledge and answers about a varied number of topics. He investigates Morality, Mythology, different races on Earth, etc. Evewrything is laid out in sections and subsections, and there are many commentaries that take up less than a fourth of a page, thus allowing the interested reader to pick and choose which topics to read at the moment. Voltaire tries desperately to put his personal philosophies on the line, even when presenting them against other opinion.
Not light reading, this is a book you can put down after only a few pages read, but i was impeled by interest in what was coming to return to this book, and I learned many things.
