I wish I could give NEGATIVE STARS...

First, I would like to note that I have nothing personal against the author, but his writing is horrible. It is like driving on a road that is covered in multi-layers of deep pot-holes; Teeth rattling and your head hitting the car roof. The writhing just doesn't flow, the language is flowery but ridiculous. My last note regarding the writing structure of the story would be about the timeline jumps about quite a bit, and could have been interesting, had it not been so disjointed.

The story, had a great potential... and is such a train wreck. The main character (1900) is an unlikable, opinionated 21st century-attitude (spoiled) brat. The present (2015) characters are not bratty, but they are presented as sluggishly stupid and equally unlikable.

The Many-Library-Prize-Wining Author then proceeds to rub-raw into the readers bumpy-ride-damaged brain, the (deserving) pointed dislike of the Russians, ridiculing of the jews (for being weird), and of course how racist all the whites in America are, except for the people owning the restaurant. Because they are put upon immigrants, that are very open to the interactions with the minorities. And before anyone calls me a racist let me quote: (Q: it is an amazingly unique place where the whites rub elbows with the blacks).

To conclude, this book is somewhere between a conference paper written by Anthropology Proffesor on the historically documented mating habits of a mole rat and a lecture on the lack of everyone else's morals by the superior put-upon minority (multitude of) beings.

Im a recent immigrant. A minority in my old country. A country that is Polands sister-land, a good neighbour. With $&%#* past and this review is as honest as I can be. Without giving spoilers. Though there are not any worth giving. DO NOT BUY this book. It is not worth the pages with is printed on. Library awards or not....
