I've read all previous 25 Reacher books, and all except one (in my opinion) were great. This one (#26) was just okay. It was co-written by Lee and his brother Andrew, who apparently is going to take over the Reacher stories. I found this book a bit tedious to read. Some paragraphs had way too much detail of basically unnecessary babbling. And the climax / resolution to the story was convoluted at best. I had to read some parts two or three times to understand why something being described was the answer to the big mystery. Story was told in the first person by Reacher himself.

I love Jack Reacher!!!! or I used to?

This book is riddled with so much descriptions of unnecessary things you can skip pages and not miss a thing!

I got half way through and realized how bored I was, the story is just dumb (and I don't like saying that about a Reacher book) but good grief, don't you think that by the halfway point you'd be really into the story and reading like crazy to find out what he's going to do next? This is not like that at all!

I think if brother, Andrew, is going to take over this series he better get back to 'real' Reacher and write some better stories or he's going to lose his audience!

Not one of the best. Story of Reacher trying to help solve case, trying to help a woman, army vet turned FBI agent and working to prevent a major terroirs' attack.

I've been a Reacher fan ever since reading KILLING FLOOR several years ago. Since then, I have read all of the Reacher novels but after reading BLUE MOON a couple of years ago, I really felt the series was dead. And when I heard Lee Child was handing off the writing to his brother, Andrew, I pretty much decided not to continue reading these. But then, the new TV series on Amazon came along which I really enjoyed so I decided to read the first book written with Andrew, THE SENTINEL, and I did enjoy that one. But this next one in the series was only so-so at best and at some points was outright boring! How could that be for a Reacher novel? The novel started out good with Reacher meeting a woman named Michaela Fenton on the outskirts of an Arizona border town who appeared to have crashed into a tree in her jeep. But she was actually awaiting some dangerous people who may have information that would lead to her brother who had been missing. Her brother apparently was mixed up with a very nasty group who may be building bombs for terrorists. But is her brother alive or dead? Of course Reacher gets involved in helping her which leads to some dire consequences as usual.

But was this a usual Reacher novel? It contained the typical short sentences and descriptions. But these seemed to go on endlessly with Reacher talking in the first person describing endless rooms and buildings...most of which was very hard to follow. Then the plot about the terrorist and what was really happening just seemed overblown and tedious. I would not rate this as the worst in the series (that still belongs to BLUE MOON in my opinion) but it was close to the bottom. Now I'm not sure if I'll bother with the next novel when it is published later this year. I'll be more interested in seeing season two of the TV series!

This is not as good as previous Reacher books. The story is more convoluted with excessive descriptions, more so than usual. I would prefer that Lee Child write these books. His brother, Andrew, just doesn't have the hang of how things go. Just a meh book for me.

If you are not a fan of Jack Reacher, you are missing out on a great read. Lee Child is a great author who researches his material and presents not only unique characters, but information about how the military and USA government operate. This series is fast paced and exciting. Jack Reacher has a little wry/witty humor as well as being a man of direct action.
I personally recommend starting with the first book in this series as it gives more background to the main characters and their relationship. Each book is a stand-alone story, but some details overlap. It is a series that is hard to put down.
