I enjoyed Gods in Alabama so much that I wanted to read more from Joshilyn Jackson. Between Georgia was also a very good, touching, heart-wrenching story about women trying to find their way in this world. Strong characters, strong plot, great story!

I really enjoyed this book. It mixes life in a small southern town and current city life. It opens the world of the deaf and blind. It bespeaks of levels of mental health. What makes family family? What we dislike or are intolerant in others is often our own deficits.

If you liked Gods in Alabama, you are sure to like this one as well. Joshilyn Jackson does it again with a book that you will love to read and will be sad to finish... because you won't want it to be over. The first half of the book is a bit slow because there is so much background story that has to be told. Once you hit the second half though, you will NOT be able to put it down. Great story! Great writing! I highly recommend this author and I highly reocmmend this book. You won't be disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm adding this author to my favorites list. Her writing style is entertaining and the characters are solid. I found myself laughing hysterically, tearing up, and holding my breath all in a matter of a few pages.

This book is about a young woman, Nonny Jane Frett, caught between two families in the very small town of Between, Georgia, the Crabtrees, from whom she was stolen, and the Fretts, by whom she was raised. If that wasn't enough cause for drama, throw in the fact that Nonny has two men in her life, Henry Crabtree, who has been in love with her for ages, and Jonno, her husband. This book is filled with unique characters, crazy, deaf, blind, criminal, this book has it all, another great book by Joshilyn Jackson, although I thought 'Gods in Alabama' was far better. This one starts off with a bang, slows down a bit in the middle, then picks up pace at the end, an enjoyable read overall! I'm beginning to like southern fiction.

The story of Nonny Frett, who's caught between her adoptive family and her biological family. It's not a fast-paced book but it's a fun read complete with quirky characters, a family feud, secrets and indecision.

I love books about the South by Southern authors. This book has the wildest assortment of characters I have seen in a while. It's not my normal Ann Rivers Siddons or Dorthea Benton Frank, but it will take you for a wild ride, and you can't put it down.

Really well written first novel from this author. If you like novels about all inter and intra family drama set in the south, you will love this one. Complex and interesting characters and an easy, but enjoyable, read.

This is a book that sucked me in once I started reading. Basically it is the story of growing up. I could relate the the push/pull of family, something we all face.

I got tired of waiting for it on my wish list so I just bought it. It was well worth the purchase price. I have enjoyed both books written by J. Jackson. It is an easy read. Perfect for a book club discussion. Anyone who grew up in a rural, small town in the south should be able to relate to the characters. Highly recommend.

This book was a great read. Joshilyn Jackson knows how to tell a story and tells it well! It was a nice departure from a recently read very dark and heavy book that I read - this one being light and funny and bittersweet. I recommend it! This book will grab you and not let go!
A joy to read from beginning to end. Between, Georgia is a diminutive town tucked between Atlanta and Athens. However, there is nothing small about the characters in this novel. Jackson hooks your attention in the first chapter as she draws you into the circumstances surrounding the birth of the main character, Nonny. Nonny's story is so engrossing and human that it pulls you through to the final paragraphs. I found myself smiling and wishing the story could continue on and on. Quite an enjoyable read.

The book was very fun. I loved all of the characters, including the antagonists. It made me want to have a sister because of the closeness of the sisters in this book. I recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book. Read it in two days. The characters were so relatable to anyone who grew up in the south. Especially small town south. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book really suprised me. It was an easy read and kept my interest the whole time. It seems that most people would be able to relate to the main character and the "crazy" members of her family!

I enjoyed this book much more than "gods in Alabama." The characters were more likeable, although they were still very quirky and eccentric as in "gods." I was able to get into the story very quickly and the pace picked up some as the book went on. There is no link between the two books, so if I was choosing one of Jackson's books over the other, I would definitely pick "Between, Georgia."
Easy reading story. Nothing deep. Just a book full of characters that beckoned you to keep up with their family and circle of surprising revelations. Glad I made time for it.
This story is a modern-day Hatfields and McCoys fued based in a small southern town - Between, Georgia. The fueding families are the Fretts and the Crabtrees, and their bone of contention is Nonny Jane. I was hoping for another gods in Alabama, but this was no where near as good as Jackson's first book. The characters are more developed and likeable than those in her third book, The Girl Who Stopped Swimming, but my overall response to the book is feeling a bit let down.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice change from the crime fiction that I've been glued to for the past few weeks. It seemed to start a little slow for me but by the end I was engrossed.
Very few books do I read that when finished I say "what was the point"? Complete waste of time reading this book.

I enjoyed this book very much. A woman who is given up a a baby by the opposing people of a small town in Georgia. She is a Crabtree, but raised as a Frett. The Crabtrees and the Fretts have an ongoing dispute that puts Nonny Jane in the middle. The Crabtrees are full of "good ole boys" who like to fight and distroy on a moments notice, and often times this is at the peril of the Fretts lives. There is also a journey here for Nonny Jane - some of it is finding romance, and some is doing the right thing. Subplots are interesting, too.
I loved this book! Couldn't put it down. Being from the South, I understood a lot of the family dynamics! Very interesting, easy and fun to read.
Loved this book - my first from this author. Easy read - started off quickly and I wanted to continue from cover to cover. Loved so much, I ordered Gods In Alabama which I believe was written prior to Between, Georgia.
This book for me, was a little slow to get started. But, as I got into it, it was very good. It is about a girl who is trying to make peace with both of her families.

This is not ordinarily a book I would select but I am glad I did. Excellent writing. The story held my attention and was believable. I liked the characters and the interaction between them The ending was both a surprise but also predictable in a way. I really enjoyed this read and recommend it for those who like "homespun" story lines and fascinating characters. There were many twists and turns to keep you engrossed in the story. Give it a try. I think you will like it.

Made it through 1 and a half chapters. Had to give it up. Not my idea of a good read. I was so-so about gods in Alabama, but I wanted to see if I liked this book any better, evidently not. So glad I borrowed it from the library and didn't waste a credit.
