This is a story of a "ugly ducking" who turns into a supermodel. She has a messy past with her meddling family and a stalker trying to kill her. The plot is a bit "choppy" and lacking in suspense. This is not one of Coulter's best, but if you enjoy spicy, mindless romances, filled with erotic yearnings, you will enjoy this quick read!

Eden, who's real name is Lindsay, has someone trying to kill her. Her fiancee Taylor is trying to find out who and stop them. There is a lot of backstory in this novel, as we go back in time to see Lindsay as a teenager and the brutal crime that takes place when she is very young. As a result, her family has more or less turned their backs on her.
I found this novel to have me on the edge of my seat and turning pages quickly. I hated almost every character except Lindsay and Taylor. There were times when it seemed that maybe Lindsay had allowed herself to be trampled on, however, that did not take away from the overall storyline.

One of Coulter's earlier contemporary novels -- suspenseful and romantic.

This was an excellent read from start to finish. Having survived living in a very disfunctional family, it entails a young woman's extreme fear and distrust of all males. And how she learned from one terrible encounter to another, how to build her trust and to become a self sufficient, caring and loving woman.

A great escapist read. To me, typical Catherine Coulter. Good mystery, steamy romance, great way to pass a stormy night. Not surprising or stimulating, but entertaining for sure. I would read it again.

I picked this up at a library book sale thinking it was a mystery/thriller. It was more a romance novel---not really my "thing". I'm sure fans of romance novels will like this book--I understand she has written many books and is a popular author. To me, I didn't really care for the story line of her relationship because I can't stand to read/hear about a woman who lets a man tell her what to do all the time. Maybe I'm not being fair...her writing was great in the way it really pulled you into the story, but, some of the conversations felt really "old-fashioned" to me.

Not bad, I really did wish the hero didn't quite have ALL the answers, though. He was a bit too perfect.

Who is trying to kill Lindsay, a model with a past? It could be her unloving father, hateful half-sister, the brother-in-law who once raped her, or her weirdo former professor. It probably isn't Taylor, the former cop who finally unlocks her passions and marries her. The solution of this mystery is one reason to keep listening to this overlong and overwritten novel. Deborah Hazlett's decent reading is another. Her voice is clear and, while she doesn't totally become each character, she leaves you in no doubt of each one's personality and motivations.

This was really good. A story of one woman who triumphs over heartaches and betrayls untold. Other than the two lead characters, there was nothing to like about any of the secondary characters and there's times the sister's motivations confuse the reader.

Lindsay Foxe is a successful model in New York, a woman who hides behind a new name to protect herself from a part of betrayal and treachery and a present that becomes fraught with danger. The product of old San Francisco wealth, the daughter of a man who despises her, her life is forever changed when she is brutally assaulted by her sister's husband, and then rejected by her family.
Lindsay is finally fored to face up to her past when she meets S.C. Taylor, a tough ex-cop, turned private investigator and computer troubleshooter. He is hired to protect her; but can he both win her trust and discover who is trying to kill her and why? Is it her family? A supposed friend or colleague? A faceless sicko or perhaps a mad psychiatrist? Ah, it's a mystery to savor.
This book was so exciting that I couldn't put it down and when I had to because of life, I could hardly wait to pick it back up just to see what was going to happen. I also found it very hard not to jump to the back of the book for the ending!

This book is a great read, one that is hard to put down until you've finished it. The characters are both interesting and believable, and you care what happens to them. Coulter brings her excellent descriptive and action style to this novel of romantic suspense, and keeps you on the edge of your chair and guessing until the end. She neatly wraps up all of the details with a very satisfying and hard-to-predict conclusion. Coulter is one of those writers who rarely disappoints, and she hits the bullseye with this one!
