As always, Janette Oke's pleasant writing style and love of our creator and faith in Jesus Christ make this book another joy to read.

Beyond the Gathering Storm focuses on the Delaney's two adopted children, Henry and Christine. Henry follows in his father's footsteps as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Though Henry had wanted to be a member of the RCMP since he was young, he now finds his duties difficult, especially when he is sent to inform a young lady that her logger husband has been killed. Five years later, when he is at a new post, he encounters the young lady again. Will the haunting memories that he has had of this lady finally be put to rest?
Christine leaves her family and the North for a job in the city. Though uncomfortable and lonely at first, she comes to accept city life and to accept the attentions of her boss's worldly son, Boyd. Will Christine's love be enough to help Boyd see the emptiness of his life and the need for the only Someone who can fill that emptiness?

Excellent! It has been awhile since I read the part of this series following Elizabeth and Wynn, but that didn't keep me from enjoying this volume. It stands on its own as a novel and though reading the other books in the series lends history to the story it isn't overly necessary. It was a quick and exciting read. I finished it the same afternoon it arrived. I ached with Henry and prayed for sound judgment for Christine through the entire book. As a big Janette Oke fan I was not disappointed!

As a Mounty, Henry has the opportunity to help a young widow and her son, but is there more to the story?

I really enjoyed this book, although it took a bit to get my bearings. The book before it in the series took place about 10 years before this one, so I was a bit confused at first as to why they had so many "modern" things in it. Other than that, it kept true to the established characters from the series. A nice read.

On Back Cover - Henry and Christine, siblings not by bloodline, but by strong family ties, each embark on separate journeys where they encounter love. But at what price? Both will be called on to rely upon their spiritual strength when their principles, desires, and most importantly, their faith is tested by new circumstances and unfamiliar surroundings.
Very enjoyable. Good read for young and old.
