Love the Trayhern family. It is enjoyable reading about the next generation and catching up on the whole family.

There were great descriptions of Afghanistan, but that's about the only good thing I can find to say about this book. For the first 350 pages of this 379 page book all the protagonists did was deny their feelings for each other because it wouldn't be professional for them to become romantically involved. While that may be the case in the real world, it's certainly NOT what I"m looking for in a romance novel! I honestly checked the spine to see if the book was categorized as a romance (it is). The writing was VERY repetitive and at one point the main characters have a conversation about whether or not he darns his own socks. I wish I hadn't made myself finish it.

From the book: He's tackled tough military projects in hoy spots around the globe...but Marine engineer Major Pete Trayhern has never face anything as challenging as civilian Calandra Roland. Attractive and vivacious, shes definitely not the kind of person he thought would be in charge of building a crucial power station in war-torn Afghanistan. Since they have to work together smoothly, Pete is determined to ignore the instant sparks between them.

In a headline-current military romance, Major Pete Trayhern is overseeing construction of a power plant in northern Afghanistan. His chief supervisor, Cali Roland, is a redheaded woman far too attractive for Pete's taste. They do manage to work well together while suppressing a growing attraction. Cali, for example, is fluent in Pashto and tells Pete to fire his untrustworthy translator, while Pete has to ride Cali about deadlines, budget compliance, and wearing her flak jacket. The two agonize over their feelings for each other and how and when to act on them until Cali is captured by the Taliban and almost killed. Now forced to admit his long-suppressed love for Cali, Pete takes her home to his family in Montana to help her heal. Gradually, the two warriors work out their fears and differences and figure out how to commit to a shared, married future.
