I would not consider this for ages 4-8 as the pbs description suggests. The back cover indicates "First Little Golden Books are exactly right for toddlers. They have simple, read-aloud texts, lively pictures that you child will want to look at again and again, and their subject matter comes from the small child's own world. Best of all, First Little Golden Books are just the right size for a toddler to hold."
