This book helped my daughter handle being a big sister when her brother was born. It's a gentle book and explains that Mom and Dad will need to take care of baby, but Big Sister won't be left out and she can actually help with the baby's care.
The thing I like about the book is that the baby is gender-neutral, so it works whether the new baby is a boy or a girl. The author just calls the baby "the baby" or "our baby," which is good in case you're not finding out the gender of the new baby or if you have more children in the future.
The pictures are colorful, the text is simple, and the message is important: being a big sister is an important "job"!

Having a new baby at home can be a joyous and rewarding experience for everyone in the family -- especially an older sibling. With charm and sensitivity the author celebrates the warmth and security of family and home from a big sister's perspective.

This was fairly cute for a big sister book. I wasn't terribly impressed with the assumption that baby would be bottlefed, though.

this is a wonderful book for the child who has a new baby coming. It helps them to grasp and understand the change that is about to take place in the home.

This wonderful book helped my daughter make the transition when we were preparing for our second baby. Then, when her sister came along, we read and re-read it. It helps point out how special an older sister is and why it's also fun to be the big sister, not just the baby!
A young child's view on having a younger sibling, great for helping to introduce a new baby into the family, well illustrated and well written.
OK, I've read better.
Cute book for the soon-to-be (or already is) big sister. Shares ideas on how special being "big" is and what big sis can do to help with baby. My daughter loved reading this before and after her little brother was born.
My 2 year old loved this book when I was pregnant with baby #2. The pictures and story are great. I think this was my favorite of all of the books we read about a new baby coming. It was easy for her to understand and focused on what SHE would be experiencing with the arrival of a new baby. Also, I liked that the new baby was referred to as 'baby' instead of 'he' or 'she'. Some big sister books say the new baby is a boy or girl and I think that can be confusing if the new baby coming into the family is the opposite gender from that in the book. I'd definitely recommend.
such a help when she now has to share her folks!
New baby arrived or on it's way to your house? Help your daughter enjoy it too with this great book just for her!
